The Congress party on Tuesday distanced itself from the Gupkar alliance soon after Home Minister Amit Shah sought clarification from Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, accusing Shah of mischievous behaviour and for spreading lies. Earlier in the morning, Shah in a series of tweets termed the Gupkar gang as an unholy alliance and said Sonia and Rahul must clarify their stand crystal clear to the people of India.

Hitting out at Shah, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said, “To spread lies, fraud and creating new illusions has become the way of the Modi government. It’s a shame that Home Minister Amit Shah is keeping aside the responsibility of the national security and is making false, misleading and mischievous statements on Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.”

Congress and the Gupkar Gang want to take J&K back to the era of terror and turmoil. They want to take away the rights of Dalits, women and tribals that we have ensured by removing Article 370.

In a series of tweets, Shah alleged that the “Gupkar Gang is going global” and wants foreign forces to intervene in Jammu and Kashmir. The conglomerate of regional and national political parties in Jammu and Kashmir was formed defending the restoration of Article 370, scrapped last year.

“Congress and the Gupkar Gang want to take J&K back to the era of terror and turmoil. They want to take away the rights of Dalits, women and tribals that we have ensured by removing Article 370. This is why they’re being rejected by the people everywhere,” he said. Shah said Jammu and Kashmir have been, is and will always remain an integral part of India and the people of the country will no longer tolerate an unholy ‘global gathbandhan’ against India’s national interest.

“Either the Gupkar Gang swims along with the national mood or else the people will sink it,” he said. The Home Minister also questioned Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi whether they support the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD). “The Gupkar Gang also insults India’s tricolour. Do Sonia Ji and Rahul Ji support such moves of the Gupkar Gang? They should make their stand crystal clear to the people of India,” he said.

Hours after Shah’s tweets Surjewala in a statement in Hindi said, “Congress party is not a part of Gupkar alliance or hitting out at the BJP government in the Centre,” the Congress leader said. “To spread lies, fraud and creating new illusions have become the way of the Modi government. It’s a shame that Home Minister Amit Shah is keeping aside the responsibility of the national security and is making false, misleading and mischievous statements on Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh,” Surjewala said in the statement in Hindi said, “Congress party is not a part of Gupkar alliance or People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration.”

The Congress recently announced that it will have a seat-sharing arrangement with the PAGD for the forthcoming elections to District Development Councils in Jammu and Kashmir.

While asserting that Congress is fighting the District Development Council (DDC) elections in Jammu and Kashmir and said, “The Indian National Congress favours democratic elections in Jammu and Kashmir and for this purpose, the Congress Party is contesting the District Development Council elections….in a democratic manner.”

Welcoming Shah’s statements on the Gupkar alliance, BJP leader and Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told a press conference that his remarks are appropriate as PDP’s Mehbooba Mufti had made it clear that she will not raise the national flag until the separate flag of Jammu and Kashmir is restored.

Prasad also claimed that NC leader Farooq Abdullah had once stated that he will seek China’s support for the restoration of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir[1].

On August 4 last year, a day before abrogation of Article 370 was announced, political parties in Kashmir, except the BJP, met at Abdullah’s residence on Gupkar Road in Srinagar. They had also issued a joint statement defending Article 370. The constituents of the conglomerate besides the NC and the PDP also include the CPI-M, the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference and the Awami National Conference.

The Congress recently announced that it will have a seat-sharing arrangement with the PAGD for the forthcoming elections to District Development Councils in Jammu and Kashmir. Abdullah is the PAGD’s chairperson and PDP chief Mehbooba its vice-chairperson. Veteran CPI-M leader M Y Tarigami is the alliance’s convenor while People’s Conference leader Sajjad Gani Lone is its spokesperson. 1. Please go through the speech delivered by Amit Shah while introducing the bill to get rid of the special status for J&K in parliament. The whole House was stunned when the HM asked where the 40,000 crore spent by the centre in J&K during 2004 to 2014 has gone?

  2. After Amit Shah questioning, Sonia and Rahul Gandhis distance from Gupkar Gang.
It was reported that Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are on bail for too long. Lock them up first!
Help Dr.S.Swamy on his case against both!!

  3. Great Job Amit Bhai. let us expose the fake Gandhi congress party as an anti national group willing to join hands with any one to hurt our country. The govt can expose the treaty signed by congress leaders with Chinese leaders. The govt can also disclose how congress slaves were giving statements towards the speech of Imran Khan at the UN. we can also show the nation how sitaram kesari was begging Pakistan to help them remove ModiG. as abdullas have decided to seek the help of china and Pakistan to get independence for Kashmir, we can treat them as enemy agents and stop all the benefits they are enjoying as ex MPs ex CMs or ex Ministers, don’t give them any benefits and take away their Indian passports let us see which country welcomes them and gives them citizenship. let us hit them hard

    • “we can also show the nation how sitaram KESARI* was begging Pakistan to help them remove ModiG.”

      — “sitaram KESARI*”? (*CAPS mine) I suppose it’s “sitaram YECHURI”☺!

  4. Tibet is now populated with chinese people. As bad as that is, the world is way too busy and unconcerned about it, nobody questions china. Pok is well populated with pakistanis, and it is the same story. Gibraltar and Folkland island are populated with brits to a degree, it’s the same story. Same with Israel administration in its neighborhood.
Kashmir surely is a part of Bharatavarsh since beginning of civilization if not time itself. Unlike all above described situations, India’s position in Kashmir is as natural as it can ever be. It’s time to populate Kashmir end to end with Hindus. With a total clear conscience, for anything less would be a betrayal to Indian people.
