Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Chhattisgarh Janata Congress (CJC) founder Ajit Jogi urged the Election Commission to disqualify former Union Minister P Chidambaram from the Rajya Sabha for committing perjury. In his letter to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Achal Kumar Jyoti, Jogi said Chidambaram had intentionally hidden details of his wife Nalini’s shares in Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Limited (IMFA), a company owned by Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Baijayant Panda.

For the last three election affidavits Chidambaram had hidden this information about his wife’s assets in IMFA, said Jogi, adding that this is a clear case of perjury and violated the rules of the representation of the Peoples Act, 1951.

“Chidambaram should be disqualified from the Rajya Sabha. After the Member of Parliament from Odisha, Baijayant Panda admitted that Nalini Chidambaram holds shares of his company the ‘Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd.’, and the same is not declared by Chidambaram in his election affidavits,” said Jogi.

Jogi alleged that Chidambaram and his son Karti have misused the ‘office of the Union Finance Minister’ to help companies like Ortel Communications owned by Baijayant Panda to get FIPB approvals.

  1. EC should act immediately based on the letter and bring the culprits out.Barwaitress has lot of looters along with her and she coyld manipulate anything under previous regimes. But India is very slow in booking those criminals who has looted India from underground to the space.

  2. All agents of Antonio must go Tihar and their assets must be taken over by the Government of India. But we doubt whether the Modi Government will be able to do so or not because some of Antonio agents are in his Government also at apex helm of affairs.

  3. Despite all clinching evidences against them, I wonder how these stooges continue to defy detention and continue a life of freedom and total impunity from punishment against the various crimes committed by them when they were in power !

    • I think the main factors are that the judiciary is very corrupt, inefficient and in the pockets of these corrupt politicians. Inspite of glaring proofs nobody has been punished. takle for example national herald case,Lalu, jayalalita, mayavati, Vadra, Hooda and many other Congress leaders besides Chidamabram family.

    • Did you not see the colour photo with Chidambaram sitting on the floow , closing his eyes, before nearly a dozen Brahmin priests , now in circulation in social media and the same appeared in a Tamil Weekly?

  4. Jogi may not be a paragon of virtue but that is not relevant to his allegation. The EC should make necessary enquiry and take appropriate action under the law.
