Babri Masjid demolition case Judgment on September 30. Why CBI under Prime Minister Narendra Modi pursued this Congress regime filed appeal case?

Published by

Now on September 30, a trial court in Lucknow is going to pronounce a verdict in the Babri Masjid demolition case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran leaders L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharti, and many other Sangh Parivar leaders. The big question here rises is the mysterious role of CBI which is under Prime Minister Narendra Modi from May 2014 went ahead with this case pursuing its appeal filed in Supreme Court in 2011 during the Congress-led UPA regime.

The timeline of the case is like this – In 2001, a trial court acquitted all leaders including Advani and Joshi from criminal conspiracy in the demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992. The Allahabad High Court also ratified the trial court Order in 2010. The CBI under the Congress regime filed an appeal in Supreme Court in 2011 against the acquittal of the High Court. The case was not listed for a long time and in May 2014 onwards, the BJP came to power. The big question then is why CBI did not withdraw its appeal in the Supreme Court? The arguments of CBI against Advani, Joshi and others started in Supreme Court only in 2016, and in April 2017, Supreme Court ordered for re-trial giving extensions after extensions of service to the trial judge to finish the case.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi who himself was a part of the Ram Janmabhoomi agitation movement can’t give any excuses in this regard

In such a politically sensitive case, every CBI Director from May 2014 (namely Ranjit Sinha, Anil Sinha, temporary Director Rakesh Asthana, and Alok Verma) must have asked none other Prime Minister Narendra Modi on what stand CBI should take in this case. It is a known fact that every two weeks or so, the CBI Director meets his real boss, the Prime Minister, and appraises him on sensitive cases.

Frankly, the CBI could have approached the Supreme Court after BJP came to power in May 2014 and withdrawn its appeal against the acquittal of Advani, Joshi, and others terming the appeal, as the case was just a politically motivated one, by accepting the verdict of the High Court and the Trial Court. Why the CBI under Modi did not do that, and moreover why did it go ahead with the arguments of the Congress regime? What will happen if the CBI withdraws its appeal? Nothing – the CBI’s Advocate can tell the Supreme Court that they have decided to withdraw the appeal as it was politically motivated, filed by the previous Congress regime. Then why CBI which is under Modi did not do it after May 2014?

Modi must answer

Prime Minister Narendra Modi who himself was a part of the Ram Janmabhoomi agitation movement can’t give any excuses in this regard. He must answer why the CBI, which is under him from May 2014, went ahead with the Congress regime’s appeal against the acquittal of Advani, Joshi, and other Sangh Parivar colleagues. Will he or will we have to wait for decades before the de-classification of files will provide us the answers?

  • Modi simply wished to hold Advani and Joshi by their cojones and sideline them / keep in check, so he could assume full control. Which he did.
No doubt this move had the full approval of his boss Muk Amb . So he had no interference.
I wonder when Advani will tell the real story. I hope he puts the nation first and tells all soon.

    • Sorry to bring in Dr.S.Swamy's name here. On 5th Aug 2020 during Ayodhya Poojan day, he asked PM to withdraw case on Advani et al and announce Bharata Ratna for Ashok Singhal!!
Modi-Shah finished remnants of beggarly two seats party BJP/old RSS !! One should not expect good gestures from these two top leaders from Gujarat!

      • I understand.
What beats me is that no exposure is given to the fact that power in India now is in the hand of Jain's- not Hindu's using Hinduism . Earlier with another terrible lot
What a sleight of hand !
And what fools are the populace.

        • Your comments reminded me "after Nehru who?" There was a cartoon on this the "deluge"!! After these two incumbent top leaders from Gujarat innings, Who?
Terrific Yogi may not be allowed. Current second rung leaders in BJP are servile and crawling before incumbent two top leaders from Gujarat and do not have fire power in their bellies! In today's BJP/RSS philosophy "only numbers power play" is given top priority and not military plus economic super power!!

  • The leaders, the protesters all believed that Ayodhya Ram Temple existed before Babur came and destroyed it. Mulayam the chief Minister ordered shoot at sight and hundreds died. Now the supreme court verdict has confirmed the belief of all these Ayodhya movement participants and the nation has respected them for their sacrifice and contribution. what cn the court say. did any one of these people pull down one brick any where? no did AdvaniG ask the protesters not to pull down the structure? Yes. If the court wants to punish these people with fines for causing disturbace in the streets, it is ok In democracy we do have a right to protest. Hope the judgement comes favorably. These people are heroes for the nation already.

  • Modi is a bloody CROOK. Why he allowed CBI to go ahead with the appeal filed by CBI????? This thankless man wanted to finish Advani ji. Simply CBI could have withdrawn the appeal filed during the Congress regime. Blood boils on such Mir Jafars.
