BJP government has continued discrimination against Hindus

Such blatant state-sponsored discrimination does not exist in any other country.

Such blatant state-sponsored discrimination does not exist in any other country.
Such blatant state-sponsored discrimination does not exist in any other country.

Why should Hindus be subjected to perpetual discrimination and disparity? Why should Hindus be denied parity and equality?

Though Article 15(1) of the Indian Constitution prohibits discrimination against any Indian citizen on the ground of religion, and though the Preamble of Indian Constitution guarantees to all Indian citizens “Justice”, “Liberty”, “Equality”, and “Fraternity”, as discussed in this write-up, Indian governments appease minorities (i.e. non-Hindus), and discriminate against Hindus on the basis of religion.

To escape discrimination, some Hindu sects proclaim that they are not Hindu.

Such blatant state-sponsored discrimination does not exist in any other country in the world.

After getting power in 2014 on nationalist agenda, BJP has done nothing to fulfil its crucial promises regarding justice to all and appeasement of none, uniform civil code, Article 370, rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus in Kashmir etc. etc. On the contrary, the BJP government has continued and expanded the Congress-led government’s anti-Hindu, discriminatory, pseudo-secular and minority-appeasing laws and policies.

BJP government has continued the division of the nation into majority and minority; and has not repealed or amended any existing law to stop discrimination against Hindus and to treat Hindus at par with other communities.

And to escape discrimination, some Hindu sects proclaim that they are not Hindu. While earlier, Ramakrishna Mission had claimed itself to be a non-Hindu minority, now some Lingayats in Karnataka want the non-Hindu tag.

This discrimination against Hindus is destroying Hindu civilization.

Some of the discriminatory policies are described briefly as follows:

i. Incentives and schemes only for minorities

As the opposition party, BJP had condemned the Congress-led government’s creation of Sachar Committee and Ministry of Minority Affairs in 2006 as communal, divisive and “appeasement” of minorities.

Though it requires just a Cabinet decision (and it does not require any law) to abolish the Ministry of Minority Affairs and its communal policies, the BJP government has not taken any such action so far.

Instead, as described below, it has continued and expanded minority appeasement policies as ‘minority empowerment’ policies and is allocating thousands of crores of rupees every year for the same.

Apart from having schemes like “Nai Manzil” (training Madrassa students for government jobs), “Shadi Shagun” (Rs.51,000/- paid on the marriage of minority women), minority students are given pre-matric and post-matric scholarships and fellowships as financial assistance for M.Phil. and PhD courses.

Padho Pardesh” scheme offers interest-free bank loans of up to rupees twenty lakhs to a minority student for pursuing Post-Graduate Diploma, Masters, M. Phil or PhD course in a foreign university. And interest on such loans is paid by the government as subsidy.

The scheme “Naya Savera” provides free special coaching etc. to minority candidates/students for admission for technical and professional courses and for recruitment to government and public sector jobs.

Every minority student gets a scholarship of rupees one lakh for Civil Services Examination, and up to rupees one lakh per academic year for preparation of Medical/Engineering entrance examinations.

Under “Nai Udaan”, minority students get financial support for preparation of Main Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission and State Public Service Commissions.

And naming it as Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram, B.J.P. Government has expanded Multi-sectoral Development Plan for Minorities to 308 districts.

ii. Right to Education Act, 2009

The Congress-led government brought “Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009” which provides for government’s ruthless control only over Hindu-run schools since Minority-run schools are exempted from this Act.

This Act requires Hindu-run schools to provide free education (with negligible compensation from the government) to at least 25 per cent students from weaker sections and also stipulates many stiff conditions for Hindu-run schools.

This Act has made the cost of running schools by Hindus prohibitive thereby closing thousands of Hindu-run schools all over the country. On February 24, 2016, National Independent Schools Alliance protested in New Delhi against this Act and appealed for its repeal or suitable amendment.

Despite the havoc caused by this Act to Hindu-run schools, BJP government has not repealed or amended it so that all schools, whether run by the majority or by minority community, are either covered by this Act or are free from this Act.

Though proclaimed as a secular country, India has no uniform civil code though it has the uniform criminal code.

iii. Government’s control of Hindu temples

Though Hindu temples are the symbols of Hindu identity and centres of Hindu civilization, all prominent Hindu temples all over India, and having assets worth thousands of crores of rupees, are under the government’s control. But no mosque or church is controlled by the government.

Government’s control of Hindu temples and their estates is depriving Hindus of their right to religious freedom guaranteed under Articles 25 and 26 of Indian Constitution and is also depriving Hindus of the self-supporting infrastructure of their places of worship.

B.J.P. government has taken no action to liberate Hindu temples from government control so that like other communities, Hindus too can enjoy their fundamental right to religious freedom.

iv. Cultural and Educational Rights

Articles 29 and 30 of Indian Constitution deal with cultural and educational rights of Minorities.

Article 30 entitles minorities to establish educational institutions of their choice.

Though these Articles were meant to ensure equality between the majority and minority communities, in actual practice, Hindus have been deprived of the freedom to run their educational institutions while minorities are given full freedom in this regard.

Pioneers of Ramakrishna Mission like Swami Vivekanand were glorious Hindus. But to save its educational institutions from government’s takeover, Ramakrishna Mission unsuccessfully claimed before the Supreme Court that it was a (non-Hindu) religious minority covered by Article 30.

BJP government has not initiated any action to amend Articles 29 and 30 to extend the rights stipulated therein to every community, whether majority or minority.

v. Articles 370 and 35A

Article 370, and its off-shoot Article 35A (inserted by a Presidential Order under Article 370 in 1954) have all along encouraged separatism and terrorism and are responsible for genocide and eviction of Hindus from Kashmir.

During the 1980s and 1990, Pakistan-sponsored terrorists killed several Hindus in Kashmir forcing lakhs of Hindus to flee from Kashmir. Driven out from their ancestral homes, Kashmiri Hindus are leading a miserable life in cramped camps in Jammu, Delhi and other places.

B.J.P.’s Election Manifesto had promised abrogation of Article 370 and return of Kashmiri Hindus “to the land of their ancestors with full dignity”. However, so far BJP government has taken no such action. And Kashmiri Hindus are still waiting for their rehabilitation in Kashmir.

Instead of taking action for deleting these Articles, BJP government has been seeking the adjournment of hearing for filing its reply on petitions for repeal of Article 35A filed in 2014 by “We the Citizens”, and by others before the Supreme Court.

vi. “Uniform Civil Code” is discarded

One policy which can ensure the same rights for all Indian citizens irrespective of their religion is the implementation of the uniform civil code.

In any really “secular country”, all citizens irrespective of their religion are given the same rights and are governed by same laws. But though proclaimed as a secular country, India has no uniform civil code though it has the uniform criminal code.

B.J.P.’s Election Manifesto had promised implementation of Uniform Civil Code. Besides, Uniform civil code will make India a real secular country. Moreover, Supreme Court has suggested its enactment in a number of judgements. And Article 44 of Indian Constitution stipulates that “The State shall endeavour to secure for the citizens a uniform civil code throughout the territory of India”. Still, the BJP-led government has done nothing in this regard.

The result is the above-mentioned discrimination being faced by Hindus.

The ideal solution of this hapless situation is that the nationalists must reject both Congress Party and BJP.

Way out

At present, Hindu civilization is facing the worst-ever challenge to its survival in history.

But the problems being faced by Hindus and Hindu civilization are political problems which can be solved only politically since only the state power and government can undo the above-described discrimination.

However, at present, there is no political party which wants to stop discrimination against Hindus and treat them at par with other communities.

The ideal solution of this hapless situation is that the nationalists must reject both Congress Party and BJP, and form a new and strong nationalist political party which would liberate the country from slavery of pseudo-secularism, ensure same rights and same laws for every Indian citizen irrespective of his religion, and would not discriminate against any citizen, whether belonging to majority or to minority community.

However, till such a political party materializes, nationalists must assert themselves and launch a strong, peaceful, constitutional and lawful movement to request the government to stop the above-mentioned flagrant discrimination against Hindus and to give the same rights and same laws for every Indian citizen irrespective of his religion.

And this outrageous discrimination must be stopped if Hindu religion and Hindu civilization are to survive.

  2. It is nice article and eye opening however, I think PM Modi’s main agenda is to make Nation first free from corruption. When people from lower strata are uplifted and made to ignore Anti-nation agendas of some parties.I hope to get better performance on the issues raised by the respected Arora ji in future!

  3. I agree with the learned writer but beg to differ in solution. At this juncture we should support the BJP and if it is elected in 2019. then exert pressure to exert it to follow pro-Hindu policies. We must see that the Congress is defeated at any cost as it is both corrupt and anti-Hindu party,.

  4. Scholarly and brilliant expose on how and why Modi’s govt is falling short of expectations of the secular public – namely the CIVIL SOCIETY. Because there is no vote bank that the majority public supports, BJP is perhaps forced to seek the vote bank politics of INCinc, thus becoming CONgiLite..

BreakIndia forces that make up the communal colonists get a boost in every aspect making MMS diktat
that the first priority of resource allocaiton must go to the minority ruling class not the majority working class.

What is the fate of the poor majority and even poorer Harijans, women, orphans, widows, etc who have been left behind for 1000+60 odd years and who are found in disproportionate percentage among the SECULAR PUBLIC?? Who will stand up for them?! Arora-ji stands up for them clearly and certainly.

  6. After getting power in 2014, BJP has forgotten who had voted for it and why. As rightly explained in this article, BJP government has forgotten its promises including those regarding Uniform Civil Code, Article 370, rehabilitation of Kashmiri Hindus in Kashmir etc. etc. But on the contrary, it has continued and expanded the discriminatory and minority-appeasing laws and policies of the former Congress-led governments.

  7. It is shocking that after getting power on the nationalist agenda as evident from its Election Manifesto of 2014, BJP has continued and expanded the Congress-led government’s minority-appeasing and anti-Hindu laws and policies. As highlighted in this article, as an opposition party, BJP used to condemn Congress-led government’s said policies as divisive and discriminatory.

  8. INDIA IS RUN BY GOVT EMPLOYEES MANY ARE NOT HINDU BUT CONVERTS. THESE ARE NEW KIND OF SOLDIERS WORKING FOR ENEMY .
CAN HINDU SURVIVE AND SAFE IS UDER THESE SOLDIERS.
HINDUS ARE GETTING FOOLED . NOT WEL INFORMED, NOT WEL EDUCATED HOW THIS WORLD RUNS. HE IS FOOLED BY HIS SPIRITUAL LEADERS WHO HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE HOW THIS POLITICAL WORLD IS MANAGED .

  9. UNLESS AND UNTILL HINDUS HAVE OWN HINDU NATION THIS SECULAR IDEAOLOGY AND APPEASING MINORITY AND FREEDOM TO ENEMY TO CONVERT OUR POOR AND FOOLS TO THEIR CULTURE IS SURE SELF DEATH OF HINDUS IN FUTURE .

  10. All arguments and somewhat derogatory characterization of the BJP blokes are to the point. We have been discussing among us erstwhile supporters of the party with a difference that the reason for the twisted policy of the Govt vis a vis Hindus is that the Supreme Leader is angling for a foreign award like his friend got– Barack Obama. This would explain his frequent foreign jaunts (I can not explain otherwise) because in today`s connected world there is no need for such frequent foreign visits. Apart from the cost of such visits, it takes away the PM from the seat of the government and leaves the administration to unelected bureaucracy who have no stake in serving the interests of people.
Some die hard supporters are hoping against hope that in the remaining 5/6 months before the D-day some hard pro-Hindu decisions will be taken by the Modi Sarkar but these are daydreams and like building castles in the air. This Govt will not do anything remotely helping the Hindu causes and what I find pathetic that Hindu Dharma Gurus are pleading to be allowed to practise their religion in the manner they consider fit without interference from the Govt or the judiciary.
The hope for the Hindus lies in totally discarding the SanghParivar and form a new party or association or pressure group to demand implementation of promises made in election times

  11. Satya Meva Jayate:

Our National Motto speaks of the power of ‘Truth’. The people of India have the right to know the truth. Most political leaders make promises to get elected. To some extent, telling lies has become the new norm of modern day political environment. But, none of us can afford to ignore the truth. When problems are correctly diagnosed, the solutions to problems emerge without any further effort.
In my analysis, India since her independence lives under great pressure that demands the dismemberment of the Republic of India. Both the United Kingdom and the United States pursue a State Policy that envisions the break up of large countries like India. While the West promotes ideals of Democracy, it uses Democracy as a tool to achieve their expansionist doctrine. To India’s great misfortune, the Communist takeover of mainland China is posing a vital security threat comparable to the threat posed by the UK-USA neocolonialist regime. On one hand, India is forced to appease the Muslims and Christians to have business relations with the West, and on the other hand, China by occupying Tibet posing threat to the entire Himalayan Frontier forcing India to beg for help from the UK-US regime that wants to chop off Kashmir as the first step to dismember the Republic. India is caught up between the Devil and the Deep Sea.
I am not surprised to note that the Indian Prime Minister is failing to fulfill his election-time promises to Hindus.

    • That is a good take. Public pressure can make some difference. The trouble is, the constant talk of clean governance, development, and such administrative issues help to cover the truth. BJP has no political teeth whatsoever. The situation is hopeless.

  12. The article recommends creation of nationalist political party. I keep saying almost the same but in different words: We need to create Vedic State Bhaarat, not “secular”. This is to protect the Hindu dharma and Hindu culture we have since more than 10,000 years in Bhaarat (Aryavart). We need active role in politics of all the Vedic sampradaayas to equal or exceed in political matters than the anti-Vedic forces (Islam, Xianity, Communism, etc.) These anti-Vedics and their leaders are organized and very active politically.

It is totally wrong to think “politics is not for good dharma premi people.” We all live under a govt, and to protect our rights and freedom we (and especially the Vedic sampradayas heads) must become politically active to serve Hindu interests. From sampradaayas we will get all we need–leadership, funding, manpower, organizing and executing capabilities, etc.– to create Vedic State Bhaarat. An organization called Hindu Dharma Aacharya Sabhaa already exists; and we Hindus need to request the org to boldy become politically more active.
Think this: If asuras rule over the Hindus, then there will not be any Hindu sampradaaya, or dharma guru.
That meas death of our dharma and culture in Aryavart.
    jaya sri krishna!

  13. BJP leaders are afraid of uttering the word Hindu. No interviewer has ever asked BJP leaders about these issues. That says it all.

BJP followers should share the blame too. Why have they been so tolerant of this disdain thus far? Do they ever ask questions of their leaders? They seem to have outsourced Hindu causes to their God Modi who isn’t doing much to protect their interests.

  14. It must be pointed out that the demand for stopping discrimination against Hindus is not the demand for any special rights for Hindus. This is the demand for basic human rights. As mentioned in this article, let us do our utmost by all peaceful and lawful means to request the government to stop discrimination against Hindus and to treat Hindus at par with other communities.

  15. As mentioned in this article, the discrimination faced by Hindus is a political problem which can be solved only politically. Therefore, well-wishers of Hindu civilization must assert themselves and strengthen themselves politically to ensure that every Indian citizen, irrespective of his religion, enjoys the same rights, and is governed by the same laws. There is no reason whatsoever, to continue the flagrant discrimination against Hindus.

  16. India is a secular country only and only because Hindus are in a majority in this country, the day is not far when with the gallopping population of muslims shall reach 45%, in that case either there will be more bifurcations and trifurcations in the country or Hindus shall be ruled upon by Muslims and Christians once again. The case in point is West Bengal and Kerala that are definitely converting into Islamic states within next few decades. Hindus have only a few decades to implement a plan for survival, the cancer that was implanted into India by Nehru and Gandhi shall ultimately kill Hinduism from India.

  17. Many thanks for publishing this superb article. This article narrates the pathetic plight of Hindu civilization; and it also describes the solution of its survival.

  18. why call it BJP goverment? would have been better put Namo in place of that..

He promised on the banks of Ganga and then forgot…. Namo became Chaacha Nehru!
May be he took us for granted or what can they do?

RSS given its discipline and nationalistic character, must enter politics and show these Nehrus their place!

  19. The BJP is a party of ideological idiots who are unclear of their own ideas and too coward to pursue an agenda that at least undoes the discrimination against Hindus if not totally reverse it.

The sangh parivar circles are simply incapable of even elementary reasoning. Even the supreme leader who as CM of Gujarat opposed Sonia’s minority oriented schemes behaved no different than Sonia and on the contrary increased the budget allotted to the discriminatory schemes.

This idiocy is also seen when many sangh parivar gerontocrats including the supreme leader himself utters idiotic statements like, “We don’t consider Hinduism as a religion but as way of life”. This stupid argument itself leads to the denial oc religious rights to Hindus.

Other hypocrisy being the Karnataka manifesto of the BJP in the recent elections where they promised to end government control of temples and grant them autonomy just like other places of worship whilst Maharashtra CM David Fernandes himself loots temples of Maharashtra.

Out of all the Anti-Hindu yet “constitutional” policies of the UPA things like repealing or amending the articles pertaining to RTE were very much doable and less controversial, still they don’t have the will and more importantly the guts to register their intentions on the table. Infact they have ignored the private member bills introduced by Mahesh Giri and Dr Satyapal Singh.

Instead these morons have gone on to pretend as if they are a messiah of muslim women thinking abolishing TTT will be of any help to Hindus. Even if they undo TTT somehow it still doesn’t undo the hostility which the central theology of the so called religion of peace harbours for infidels. On the contrary it would mean one reason less to go the path of apostay or gharwaapsi thereby still perpetuating the demographic siege on Hindus. Even these muslim women for whom our people from the ‘party with a difference’ are white knighting, will dump them when it comes to elections.

The likes of Javdekar and Ram Madhav are an absolute embarrassment.

Even if they Outmatch congress and other parties in sucking upto the minorities they won’t be getting their votes en masse. It is a mental illness in mediocre and intellectually bankrupt circles of RSS-BJP to prostrate before the enemy just for some acceptance and a pat on the back.

It seems more likely that someone took the shortcut of Hindutva only to reach at the centre and hopes he’ll somehow get the Nobel Prize.

Advocating NOTA at this time would be suicide as the miserable flock called Hindus are caught between the devil and the deep sea. It would be more advisable to form vote blocks and bargain with these filthy politicians no matter how saffron they seem to be. Make them beg for your votes, let them compete for your votes.

  20. Excellent article, should open eyes of all Hindus. During both in NDA 1 and NDA 2, not a single law was removed or amended which were against Hindus and their unity. While Modi’s development agenda can be appreciated, it is incorrect to state BJP is a Hindu or right wing party.
