BJP has decided to keep the campaign for 2019 grounded, taking more feedback from the cadre and increasing interaction with local people.

Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah has directed all Members of Parliament, including Union Ministers, to interact with prominent 25 people in their constituencies and enlighten them about the pro-poor programmes of the government. As the ruling party gets into the election mode, it is leaving no stone unturned in its endeavor to let people know about its achievements.

In their interaction with the local gentry, BJP MPs are expected to impress upon them about the schemes that have been reportedly carried out with some level of efficiency.

An adviser to a Union Minister informed this correspondent that each MP is expected to prepare a list of 25 important people in his or her constituency. It would include such persons as journalists, activists, teachers, and lawyers. The list will be sent to the local BJP unit. Once approved by the unit, the MP would meet the group.

The BJP leadership is of the view that what is needed is the dissemination of good work done by the Narendra Modi government. The party top brass is confident that the government has done very well for all sections of society, especially the poor, the adviser said. The party believes that all that is needed is proper and thorough propagation, he added.

Further, the exercise is not intended to get feedback from the local gentry. It is aimed at influencing the prominent people in all constituencies, the adviser said.

The BJP is convinced that smart messaging cannot only impress people with the Modi government’s achievements but also minimize the damage caused by such moves as demonetization and shoddy implementation of the goods & services tax or GST.

The party has studied the fiasco that its India Shining campaign proved to be in 2004. It believes that it has drawn right lessons from that campaign. India Shining, party bosses believe, failed because it was quite swanky, oriented around the sensibilities of the urban and upper-class populace. Emphasis on GDP and Sensex, for instance, found little palpability in rural areas and among poorer sections of society.

Therefore, the party has decided to keep the campaign for 2019 grounded, taking more feedback from the cadre and increasing interaction with local people. The coming together of anti-BJP parties and leaders has further intensified the ruling party’s efforts to go local.

In their interaction with the local gentry, BJP MPs are expected to impress upon them about pro-poor schemes like giving LPG cylinders and rural electrification, the schemes that have been reportedly carried out with some level of efficiency, the adviser said. The idea is to present the BJP as a pro-poor party, he added.

  1. BJP have had two support base -Middle class Hindus ,Businesses class mainly baniyas. Now Seventh pay commission was a joke and it had created wedge between Jaitley and CGE even though Modi is not so much affected .Second business class also peeved with the way Modi had treated them with disdain and made them feel as thief .Here Modi govt needed to mend with central govt employees urgently by implementing the pay with more than three fixation as govt employees has the wherewith to influence at least 100 + votes by each individual. Many of the core Modi supporters are either not voting or go for NOTA.Remember they were hard core Modi supporters. The lateral entry for Joint secretary is also ill timed as bureocracy had grown skeptical and thus use their might to stop Modi Ji.People feel that if Modi losses then the reason lies with Arun Jaitley who alienated Middle class and Business class alike .Sad that with such good mandate there was not even a single case of corruption which had got logical conclusion like -NDTV,Vadera ,Nirav Modi,Malta ,Chidambaram,Karthick.Modi govt with all good intend look weak Modi because of the handling of Jaitley.Sad…

  2. 2019 election will be one of the worst election we are going to see. The opposition will be all out. If they lose they will be history. BJP should be prepared to do anything to stop them

  3. Moving in a good direction
Polarise Muslims- Promote achievements like banning Triple talak, polarise forward thinking Muslims like Shias, Ahamedias; break opposition should be additional strategies
Wish BJP all the very best

  4. Can BJP boast of single act to empower Hindus ? To win elections, BJP has to adopt to freebies few months before election. Fans, mixies, sarees, smart phones, etc. Journalists have to be sponsored for junkets. Fake news unit is to be put up to counter Congis dirty tricks dept. All Swamis and mutts should instruct their followers to vote for BJP. ( this is done In churches and mosques for Congi candidates). Reduce petrol price by Rs 3 a litre for 2 months before election. Raise income tax exemption and all ATM should be fully operative.

Modi may be a saint, but his MLAs andMPs have same desires as those law makers of other parties.Satisfy them. At least put one media house owner and xFM in Jail. This is the least BJP can do. Time is running out.

  5. The fiasco on petrol pricing was a set back when the Govt., announced a 1 paisa reduction. You cannot play jokes with people or mock them or taunt them when good governance is your motto. The general public has to be taken seriously in matters like these.

  6. Better to start something new before its too late. Middle income group needs to be treated better. Nothing much is really happening. Pretty much a raw deal as always.
