Bukhari murder a classic case of terrorism: Swamy

Published by

The murder of veteran journalist and Rising Kashmir editor Shujaat Bukhari and his bodyguards on Thursday is a classic illustration of terrorism, said senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Rajya Sabha member Subramanian Swamy.

…It is significant that none of the bodyguards—one died on the spot and the other in hospital—opened fire at the assassins.

Speaking to this correspondent, he said, “As I have said earlier, terrorism is forcing government and citizens to do things they don’t want to do. Those who don’t follow the dictates of terrorists are eliminated. This is what has been done.”

Another objective of terrorists is to eliminate those who favor the middle ground, Swamy said. “Bukhari was not exactly pro-India. He wanted some kind of compromise.” And terrorists want to obliterate the very possibility of any middle ground. Hence the murder.

The objective that has already been achieved is the slowing down of the response of our security personnel, Swamy said. He finds it significant that none of the bodyguards—one died on the spot and the other in hospital—opened fire at the assassins. Human rights groups and over-ground associates of jihadists raise such a stink whenever the troopers of police and paramilitary forces retaliate that they have become extremely circumspect in their reaction. Not many people like to face inquiries and public criticism, the result of which could be dismissal and even incarceration.

The Jammu and Kashmir police said on Friday that one of the suspects, who was captured on CCTV picking up a pistol from the crime scene, is now in custody. The pistol too has now been recovered, cops said.

That the murder was carried out in the month of Ramzan—in which Aurangzeb, a jawan with the 44 Rashtriya Rifles, was also kidnapped and slaughtered—is seen as a tough message from the terrorists.

On the Central Intelligence Agency’s World Factbook calling Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad as “religious militant organizations,” Swamy said, “It would be beneath our dignity to react to a spy agency’s views. Had [US President Donald] Trump said such a thing, we should have reacted.”

  • It was utter stupiduty to have given cease fire because terrorist can only understand the language of bullets . One who is already brainwashed in the name of jihad cant be persuaded with any kind or intelligible words. If we want peace we have to throw bullets back is the one solution and one grain of our soil cannot be given to any intruder hereafter but take back our soil which is called POK
india is always for hindus and will remain so

  • i tend to agree with the comment by mr. venkat mostly. however , we need to wait . once we as a nation are strong enough militarily and economically then it can be done. or may be problem may itself gets resolved.

  • While Buddhists nations have junked Buddha’s philosophy, India still holds on to Buddha’s philosophy of ahimsa. Kashmir is religious problem as no Muslim would take orders from Hindus, when in majority. There are three options for govnt. 1) Carve out the valley, give it toPak and deport all Kashmiri Muslims. 2) Abolish 370 law, and settle all retired army personnel. ( This was advocated by Shemon Peris of Israel in 80s ) 3) As Pak is using non state actors, India can hire mercenaries, and eliminate mischief makers, so no one can blame India and save the lives of Indian soldiers. No country in the world will support India on Kashmir except Israel, hence take their advice.

  • Why the hell we are withdrawing from offensive in Ramzan when Terrorist become hyper active. In the name of amnesty, are we giving more time for them to regroup themselves .
