Swamy demanded Civil Aviation Minister to disqualify Tata Sons and partner Malaysian firm Air Asia from Air India bidding

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday demanded that Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri disqualify Tata Sons and their partner Malaysian firm Air Asia from Air India bidding citing his ongoing High Court case and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) cases against Air Asia and Tata Trust officials. At present Air Asia’s Malaysian owners Tony Fernandez and Tata Trust’s R Venkatraman and extradited corporate lobbyist Deepak Talwar are accused in CBI and ED cases after Swamy approached High Court and Supreme Court on the illegal foreign direct investment approval given by former Finance Minister P Chidambaram[1]. Tata Trusts’ Managing Trustee Venkatraman who is also in the board of Air Asia is questioned by CBI many times and Deepak Talwar was extradited from Dubai and currently languishing in Tihar jail. Air Asia with Tata partnership was allowed to operate in India in the total illegal way by the Congress-led UPA Government in 2013 and Chidambaram was also on the radar of CBI and ED on this dubious deal.

“In the public interest and in the interest of justice, TATA Sons and/ or with any other foreign or domestic airlines in a joint venture or alone should be disqualified from the process of bidding or any other procedure initiated by the government to buy national carrier Air India till final adjudication of my PIL before the Hon’ble Delhi High Court and appellate Court i.e. Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and any/ all investigation pending with ED or CBI or any other authority probing the subject matter,” said Swamy in a 24-page complaint to Civil Aviation Minister with documents of his ongoing cases in High Court and CBI and ED case details. Subramanian Swamy’s 24-page complaint with documents is published below this article.

“This argument of illegality and reckless disregard for the propriety [in allowing a prima facie criminally suspect party, Ratan Tata headed Tata & Sons, to participate in bids for Air India], is in addition to the submissions I had made, to your knowledge, in the last year’s Parliamentary Consultative Committee Meeting chaired by you.

“The overwhelming majority of the MPs present in that meeting representing several parties in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, had concurred with me then that Air India should not be privatized in the national interest, despite your plea to the Committee MPs that the financial loss of the Air India left you with no other option,” said Swamy.

Ratan Tata led Tata Group’s entry into the civil aviation sector during Congress lead UPA regime was a total violation. First through Malaysian firm Air Asia and then opening another company Vistara. Entire civil aviation rules were violated by allowing these two companies to operate in civil aviation.

So sad that Modi have some inferiority complex when dealing with Corporates Tata, Ambanis and Adani kind crooks.
