RSS camps lead by Christian educationist in Kerela
[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]I[/dropcap]n spite of the severe criticism levelled by the Congress, Lefts and Islamist outfits, the popularity of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is on an upward march, according to a senior Sangh leader. “The acceptance and respectability accorded to the RSS are increasing day by day. More and more people from all walks of life in the society, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, are coming forward to be associated with the Sangh,” said Dattatreya Hosabale.
There are 74 such camps going on in various parts of the country. Each camp is held for duration of three weeks. The activists attend the camp by paying money from their own pockets.
Speaking to a group of media persons in the side lines of the annual organisational camp for Swayamsevaks being held at Valayanchirangara village near Kochi, Hosabalae, the joint general secretary of the RSS, said the camps mould the activists for a Sangh System of life, with focus on nationalism, patriotism and service to the society. Interestingly, the director of the RSS organisational camp being held at Valayanchirangara village is Prof C I Issac, leading educationist and historian.
“There are 74 such camps going on in various parts of the country. Each camp is held for duration of three weeks. The activists attend the camp by paying money from their own pockets,” said the Sangh strongman. He said that a day in the camp begins at 4.30 am and the lights are switched-off at 10.30pm. “During the course of the camp, the activists are given an insight into social service, literature, arts, history and physical fitness. There is nothing secret about these camps. The public is free to visit the camp to ascertain what is happening here,” said Hosabale.
[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]H[/dropcap]e recounted experiences of public figures with different political leanings coming forward to help the Sangh organise such camps. “In Tamil Nadu, a DMK leader offered us the college owned by him as a venue for the camp. He had told us that though his ideology was against that of the RSS, he was so impressed by the discipline of the Sangh and hence he was offering his college as a venue for our annual organisational camp,” he said.
According to Hosabale, the RSS has found acceptability among the Indian communities living abroad. “There are Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh units functioning in various countries in Europe and America as per the rules and laws of the respective countries. They too have started organising annual camps for the HSS activists in the pattern of RSS camps. We are offering them support to organise such camps. The HSS organisers have expressed their desire to hold such camps in India and the first such camp would be held in India in July 2017,” said Hosabale.
As the message from these camps spread, the true identity and value that RSS brings to any country will come to the fore.
