Crooked Chidambaram’s fake diseases claim torpedoed. AIIMS reports to the High Court that PC has no health issues

There are lies, utter lies and then there are Chidambaram claims of diseases to obtain bail. The All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Medical Board on Friday informed the Delhi High Court (HC) that jailed former Finance Minister P Chidambaram’s health condition is fine and does not require hospitalization. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta read out the report of the medical board, set up on the court’s order to examine Chidambaram’s health condition, and told Justice Suresh Kait that the Congress leader was physically examined by the doctors in the morning and does not require a sterile environment.

This development has come as a setback for Chidambaram who was knocking at all legal forums with blatant untruths to get out of the prison. After the examination of the medical report, the Court has rejected the interim bail petition of the former Minister, who citied Crohn’s disease and wanted to be treated at Hyderabad. Now the High Court will hear his regular bail petition on Monday in the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) case related to money laundering in the INX Media bribery case.

After going through the report, the court directed the Tihar Jail Superintendent that the surroundings of Chidambaram should be clean and hygienic and he should be provided home-cooked food, mineral water, mosquito protection net, and repellant and that his dwelling area be cleaned twice a day. The court added that he be provided a face mask which he can wear if the need arises.

Besides, the judge directed that Chidambaram’s regular blood pressure monitoring, sugar test and other medical tests should be done, and a periodical follow-up as an outpatient be done once a week. The court disposed of the plea after senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Chidambaram, said they do not require any further direction.

Crohn’s disease refers to the inflammation of the digestive tract leading to abdominal pain, diarrhea, and weight loss. Earlier in a bail petition in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case, Chidambaram said that he was suffering from nine kinds of diseases.  But this time in the ED case bail petition, the foxy Chidambaram claimed only one disease, wanting to get treatment from Hyderabad.

The Solicitor General said a seven-member board, including Hyderabad-based gastroenterologist Nageshwar Reddy, who has been treating the Congress leader, was set up and they opined that the treatment as advised should continue and he should be given clean surroundings. The doctors also opined that hospitalization was not required and that he be treated as an outpatient.

Chidambaram has sought interim relief for six days to enable him to consult and get examined by his regular doctor, Reddy, at the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology (AIG) in Hyderabad. He has claimed that he needs “urgent medical treatment for the acute and persistent abdominal pain being experienced” by him since October 5 due to Crohn’s disease which he was diagnosed with, in 2017.

Sibal and Abhishek Singhvi told the court that Chidambaram’s weight has reduced from 73 kg to 66 kg, which showed that his condition was deteriorating in custody.

These developments show that Chidambaram is a total liar and he has no regard for the laws of the country.
