Why can’t Indrani be kept in a safe house with foolproof security as demanded by her?
The handwritten note of Indrani Mukherjea is a real shocker. According to media reports, Indrani has stated in the statement given to the police that she was given a bowl of dal and some medicines by the jail staff after which she became unconscious. Indrani was prescribed an anti-depressant Amitriptyline by JJ Hospital psychiatrists. But an examination of her blood revealed that she had benzodiazepine which clearly shows that she overdosed with some other drug not prescribed to her. Strangely the state-owned JJ Hospital says that she had attempted to commit suicide!! How do the doctors know that? Are they cops? Obviously, it is an attempt to prejudice the probe into the drug overdosing.
The media quotes Indrani as having clearly told the police that her life is in danger ever since she deposed before a magistrate (under Section 164 of the CrPc) against P Chidambaram and Karthi in a mega bribery case.
The fundamental question is why the Devendra Fadnavis govt is unable to beef up security in Byculla women’s jail.
This is the second case of drug overdose. The first was in October 2015 when 6,430 ng/ml of benzodiazepine (the equivalent of three full strips) was detected in her urine sample. And again an overdose of the same drug is found! The question is how the hell she has access to such large quantities of the drug while in jail? If she is trying to kill herself who among the jail staff is helping her? And where does she get the money to bribe the jail staff?
The other angle, which Indrani herself has alleged, is that someone is out to eliminate her. She is a woman who knows too much.
The fundamental question is why the Devendra Fadnavis govt is unable to beef up security in Byculla women’s jail which had witnessed the death of another inmate Manjula Shetye earlier? It reflects poorly on the CM that he is unable to curb corruption in just one prison.
The other question is will the state govt call P Chidambaram and Karthi to record their statements in the light of Indrani’s allegations against them?
Will Fadnavis probe the conspiracy to kill Indrani? Meanwhile, why can’t she be kept in a safe house with foolproof security as demanded by her?

This is the question to Pgurus Team. Is there a provision in the law where if one says that there is threat to ones life in jail and asks for more security, he/she should be provided? As per media, she requested for a CBI custody and not bail (like other politicians / hot shot lootiyans do / insensible film actors do).
