DMK leader’s disparaging comments about Dalits, Brahmins

BJP leader Dr. Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday petitioned Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi seeking Sanction for Prosecution against a DMK leader for his controversial speech urging “genocide of Tamil Brahmins.” On June 3, DMK’s Spokesperson R Rajiv Gandhi made a controversial speech urging for the genocide of Tamil Brahmins and said that this was recommended by Dravidian leader E V Ramaswami Nayakar, known as Periyar. Subramanian Swamy already approached Election Commission on this matter seeking action against DMK.[1]

The Election Commission is expected to initiate proceedings on Swamy’s complaint soon. In his letter to Governor, the BJP leader pointed out that for filing a complaint about the barbaric and atrocious speech of the DMK leader, needed Sanction for Prosecution from the Governor.

“I have enclosed my Criminal Complaint that I intend to file against one R Rajiv Gandhi, the Secretary, and Spokesperson of the DMK. For the filing of the said Complaint, your Sanction is required under Section 196 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973.

“It is prima facie evident from the attached Criminal Complaint that the Accused therein, R Rajiv Gandhi, has committed various offences under the Indian Penal Code, by publicly calling for the genocide of Tamil Brahmins on June 3, 2002, publicized through his Twitter account.

“Your kind attention is drawn to the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Subramanian Swamy Vs Manmohan Singh (2012), wherein the court has expounded principles governing grant of Sanction for Prosecution. Therefore it is requested that you may kindly accord Sanction for the Prosecution of the Accused in the Complaint who has committed various heinous offences to disturb public tranquility, and in the interest of justice, and in the exercise of your Constitutional prerogative,” said Subramanian Swamy in his letter to Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi.

  1. A true warrior & great contributions to Hindus till date in India. ONE man army. None equal him in that. Salute him for his untiring efforts & contributions.

  2. The nation is facing serious religious disharmony and a threat to society. I can not but say it is ignited after the saffron governments have come to rule in the country in the centre and different states. Bulldozing culture is also introduced. Judiciary is being questioned. I do not say what the DMK office bearer has uttered is correct. But it is practically a mental genocide of brahmins after the Periyar movement. A secular society is aimed and formed by the forefathers of the independent is facing religious and caste-based threats and where it ends is not known. Unfortunate developments.
