Over 1200 aspirants write Officers Exam to join the Army
The separatist leaders who had given two day long shut down call across Kashmir valley in protest against the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Sabzar Ahmad Bhat had egg on their face early Sunday morning after more than 1200 aspirants appeared at two different exam centres in Pattan and Srinagar during written examination for filling posts of Junior commissioned officers and other ranks in the Indian army.
In search of a better future these aspirants had already cleared their mandatory physical fitness and medical tests before taking this final exam.
The images of hundreds of candidates taking their examination punctured the narrative and false propaganda of the separatists and their sympathisers revolving around unrest against the Indian army.
The families of these candidates were initially worried but elaborate arrangements made by the Army authorities motivated them to allow their wards to sit for examination. The local residents were slightly terrified in the aftermath of killing of young army officer Lt Umar Fayyaz in Kulgam by unidentified militants.
According to army spokesman a total number of 1292 candidates appeared for their written examination at Pattan and Srinagar.
Yasin Malik arrested, sent to Central Jail
Making their intentions clear the J&K government too had launched a crackdown on trouble makers to prevent the situation from taking an ugly turn.
Early sunday morning police team from Maisuma police station went ahead and arrested Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front leader Yasin Malik from his home and shifted him to Central jail in Srinagar.
Malik had visited the residence of Sabzar Ahmad Bhat and his accomplice Faizan Muzaffar in Tral area of Pulwama district on saturday.
Meanwhile, during the bandh call violent clashes broke out in over half a dozen places in different parts of Kashmir valley but the situation largely remained peaceful.
The police and para military forces exercised utmost restraint to prevent any flare up of tension.
Reacting cautiously to these developments the state govt has decided to shut down educational institutions for two more days to prevent students from stepping out on the streets. Restrictions would remain in place in several areas falling under 7 police stations in Srinagar. Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag, Shopia, Baramulla, Pulwama, Kulgam too had announced restrictions to prevent incidents of stone pelting and mass assemblies of local residents.

Compared to Burhan Wani the funeral procession of his close aide Sabzar Ahmad Bhat attracted less crowds.
Burhan Wani’s father Muzaffar Wani also attended the funeral prayers organised in an orchard near Rathsuna village in Tral area.
An unidentified militant was also present among several hundred villagers in Tral area. The militant sporting a bandana was not carrying any weapon on his person but shouted slogans while paying last tributes to HM commander. He had visited the family late Saturday evening and took a pledge to avenge the killing of HM Commander.

This can also be a ploy to infiltrate into Indian Defense Establishment and sabotage it from inside. The background checks need to be very very strict compared to normal situation. I am not discounting the fact we can also get great nationals like Lt. Umer Fayaz who laid down his life for nation. But need to strike a word of caution.
