The British East India Company ruled India for decades – if we decipher the company era, we get an indication that we were not enslaved by the East India Company, but by its violence.
The trading companies of Europe were given powers to keep armed guards by their governments chiefly to fight the pirates, and to secure depots, etc., in the poorly governed regions where they traded.
But what ended up happening was that the same troops were used to choose sides in local battles and whichever colonizer won, eventually ended up ruling the kingdom. 22,000 British ruled over 220 million Indians. The only way this could have been possible was to unleash violence at the slightest pretext.
Violence is the real thing. That is why we give a monopoly on violence to the government and then circumscribe that power with laws. A policeman arresting a citizen has to produce him before a magistrate for this very reason.
We must agitate to free trade in everything that is otherwise legal to produce and trade by any entity. Legal for one, legal for all, must be our governing mantra.
So it happened that the thugs ruling Asia were busy in their harems, and did not maintain this monopoly on violence. The trading companies of Europe continued to increase their power of violence over more and more regions and eventually took over the whole country.
Fast forward to the present
Modern companies are not given the power to violence. They can not enslave us so long as we are vigilant and make sure that our government uses taxes to keep the apparatus of violence strong and healthy. And if we do not make sure that this power of violence of our government is unquestionable, anybody will enslave us: Naxals, all those mujahideen’s in Kashmir, China, Pakistan.
The world is not a just and fair place. It will not leave you alone till you keep a loaded gun by your side.
Coming to the laws freeing trade in farm produce, freer the trade, richer will be both the parties to trade. No exceptions to this law are found. In fact, we must agitate to free trade in everything that is otherwise legal to produce and trade by any entity. Legal for one, legal for all, must be our governing mantra.
And to remind you, violence by trade unions has the same effect as violence by the East India Company. That is why the economy of Bengal got destroyed in the period between 1950-2000 exactly the way it was destroyed in 1757-1800.
And violence by mafia dons also has the same effect. That is why the economy of Bihar and UP never grows, and the textile mills of Mumbai and Mumbai port died. Because we elect thugs who feed mafia dons as pets or look the other way when trade unions unleash violence in Kanpur or Modinagar.
The rule of East India Company difference dictated and justified techniques of violence that were by the same token considered unacceptable in conflicts between civilized nations in many instances.
So, whether it be the East India Company era or today’s modern era the violence has been adapted by people in many forms of our societies and sectors

This historical event ” Enslaved by East India Company or its violence” should be a good lesson for American Democracy. It is true that in American perspective ” The world is not a just and fair place. It will not leave you alone till you keep a loaded gun by your side” It does a real campaign why Americans should keep weapons at their homes, because the country is a loose mix of good-bad-civilized-uncivilized-racial- communal- communist countries slaves- Islamic countries slaves who infiltrated in that country with certain motives and intention of their background countries. It might take another 200 yrs before it settles down to some kind of real civilization based on accommodate and accept – concept. But modern industrial civilization does not allow that for too long due to migratory nature of activities in any modern country. Therefore,if any country does not have a UNIFYING FORCE at the helm of Power, this trouble will be keep coming. This is most fitting article for India. The Country must decide Modi will not live all the time- hence all divisive force elements either must be eliminated or effectively absorbed with no existence of any cracks or separation- coupled with strong State action anything to the contrary.
In a modern nation-state concept, the mandate of the right to be violent is conferred on the state forces. It’s important to note, there are forces which want to take over the governance which ultimately leaves them with the mandate of using the forces, co-opting or even removing-replacing them with street-violence of mobs like what happens in the middle-east.
The problem is not only w.r.t good and bad violence. The problem is about who (which culture) drives the violence logic.
