CM Fadnavis deserves to be congratulated for handling the highly-sensitive issue of Maratha reservation with tremendous patience and tact. The passing of the Maratha reservation bill today in the legislature is a historic development. It’s a major achievement of his govt. He has achieved the impossible. It’s a different matter if the move is stayed by the courts. Fadnavis has fulfilled the promise he had made to the Marathas.
Fadnavis’ political stature will shoot up in a big way on the eve of the crucial 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Maratha leaders of the Congress and NCP had done zilch for their community despite being in power for several decades. But a non-Maratha CM like Fadnavis has achieved almost the impossible. The BJP’s base can widen dramatically overnight at the cost of the Congress and NCP if the party organisation expeditiously encashes on the pro-Maratha bill. The senior Maratha leader, who was trying hard to form a new and cynical equation of Marathas and Muslims in Maharashtra and was also trying to whip anti-Brahmin sentiments because Fadnavis is a Brahmin, will have egg on his face.
Fadnavis should now quickly follow up the affidavit filed by Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) chief Sanjay Barve before the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court against Ajit Pawar in connection with the Rs 70,000-Cr irrigation scam [1]. State BJP president Raosaheb Danve-Patil has publicly declared that Ajit Pawar will be arrested – [2]. Fadnavis should now bite the bullet. In any case, he owes it to the poor farmers of Maharashtra who have to face the brunt of drought. Rs 70,000 Cr would have brought precious water to millions of farms but was pocketed by an alliance of corrupt politicians, contractors and govt employees. The arrest of Ajit Pawar will also deliver a body blow to the NCP thereby dramatically creating political space for the BJP to expand. Also, Fadnavis’ political stature will shoot up in a big way on the eve of the crucial 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

phadnavis is one of the best CM’s of BJP. If only he manages to arrest Ajit Pawar who is the most visible symbol of arrogance and corruption then NCP fate will be sealed. His decision to scrap APMC is a bold one. If only manohar parikka can come back to good health then BJP’s second line of leadership will be formidable.
I used to wonder who is after Modi in BJP, as Goan CM Parrikar, another good one, is not in Good health. Seeing a silver lining among the younger generation in BJP -in the name of Fadanis, Yogi Hope BJP stays in power for few decades. India will become a superpower. Corruption in administration will be greatly minimised f not eradicated

Agreed, Fadnavis has made a good beginning by (1) banning slaughter of cow.bull & farm animals (2) by establishing an almost CORRUPTION-FREE Government

Admirable that issues close to the heart of Indian communities are being studied, analysed and solved, be it Fadnavis or any other elected leader of the ruling party. Hope more leader take a leaf from Fadnavis’ book! Modi will achieve a lot more if his party leaders become more active.
