Oppn gambit of meeting Separatists in Kashmir Valley could backfire spectacularly
After Kashmir separatists were exposed in a sting, why is Oppn meeting them?

Aiyar taunts patriotic citizens by hugging Geelani, Mirwaiz

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]O[/dropcap]n Thursday when five member delegation led by senior congress leader and former Union Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar called on hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, relatively moderate voice in the same camp Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and much maligned Shabir Ahmad Shah in Srinagar they once again crossed their ‘Lakhsman Rekha’.

It is no secret hawala racket was brazenly pumping crores of rupees to fund agitational terrorism in Kashmir Valley.

No one in the centre or the state government had given them the mandate to meet these separatist leaders at a time when war of nerves is on to teach them a befitting lesson.

But when these self styled peaceniks arrived at the door steps of these separatists leaders they were greeted with open arms and warm hugs.

As closed door parleys went on with cross section of political leaders the delegation hogged headlines throughout the day. Some of the over enthusiastic TV channel reporters even landed in trouble as Mani Shankar Aiyar curtly told them to get out of his way while he was occupying his seat before taking lunch.

These closed door meetings took place in the back drop of recent crackdown announced by the Union govt to expose the murky financial deals giving oxygen to the ongoing resistance movement in the valley.

It is no secret hawala racket was brazenly pumping crores of rupees to fund agitational terrorism in Kashmir Valley.

After the recent TV sting caught prominent leaders of the Hurriyat camp red handed demanding crores of rupees to organise street protests and attacks on security forces the Hurriyat leaders were maintaining a low profile and shying away from stepping out to prevent any backlash.

The mood of the Nation was against them and in the light of prevailing security and political situation they were treated as main culprits hindering the process of restoring noramalcy in the Kashmir valley

India occupying Kashmir with the help of army: Geelani

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]T[/dropcap]he ill timed visit of this five member delegation gave these separatist leaders a new lease of life especially after Delhi has marginalised them making it abundantly clear to them that there would not be any dialogue with them as they are not the real stake holders in Kashmir valley.

After the meeting Aiyar told reporters in Srinagar, by meeting these separatist leaders we wanted to demonstrate that a dialogue is possible between people with all shades of opinion.

The clarity among the new dispensation has disturbed their calculations and left them on the margins.

Ironically when five member delegation arrived at the tightly guarded residences of these separatist leaders they exchanged warm hugs before settling down.

While shaking hands with one of the delegates OP Shah Syed ALi Shah Geelani even made a crisp remark: “aap to yahan fauj ke sahare hi kabza kar ke baithe hain”.

After exchanging pleasantries separatist leaders held detailed discussions with the five member delegation comprising O P Shah, Kapil Kak, Vinod Sharma and I D Khajuria.

The delegation members were seen taking notes as separatist leaders went on to share their feedback while discussing the current security and political situation. After the meeting Aiyar told reporters in Srinagar, by meeting these separatist leaders we wanted to demonstrate that a dialogue is possible between people with all shades of opinion. He said yesterday they had organised a ’round table conference’ where leaders from different political parties and spokesman of the Hurriyat conference also participated.

No space for people to express their aspirations: Mirwaiz

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]M[/dropcap]oderate voice among Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq told the delegation that situation in Kashmir is one of extreme oppression and Valley has been turned into a garrison of military, paramilitary and police force and civilians are held hostage.

…using a Kashmiri youth as a human shield by an army officer and his honoring by army chief clearly defines Government of India’s perspective regarding Kashmir and how to deal with it.

He said the troops enjoy complete immunity from prosecution by law and all kinds of restrictions and curbs are in place to give no space to people to express their aspirations or stage protests.

“The situation is so frustrating that even young students are hitting the roads each day to lodge their protest,” Mirwaiz said adding using a Kashmiri youth as a human shield by an army officer and his honoring by army chief clearly defines Government of India’s perspective regarding Kashmir and how to deal with it.

He told the delegation that Hurriyat believes that an alternative way to resolve the Kashmir issue was through negotiations between India Pakistan and the people of Kashmir to the satisfaction of all.

Later, the Aiyar-led delegation called on Shabir Shah at his Sanat Nagar residence in uptown Srinagar.

“We are not in favour of strained relations between India and Pakistan but demand justifiable solution to Kashmir dispute which has been the bone of contention between the two nuclear neighbouring nations,” Shah told the delegation.

Later, in the evening civil society delegation called on hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani at his Hyderpora residence.

Geelani also briefed the delegation about the prevailing situation in Kashmir and the excesses committed by troops during over five months long unrest in the Valley last year.

He told the delegation that people are demanding right to self determination, which has been promised to them by India in United Nations.

The delegation also met senior separatist and Shia leader Aga Syed Hasan.

Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman, Mohammad Yasin Malik, however, refused to meet the Aiyar-led delegation.

  1. Khangress gambles that with a little nudge from it, India will turn into an Islamic Republic. It has worked hard to achieve this since 1921.

  2. Since our independence, Congress has ruled India for sixty five-seventy percent of time. Now these separatists are complaining to a Congress leader that UN had promised self determination rights to Kashmiri (which of course is not true) and Indian government is not allowing it? What was this stupid Aieyar’s response to that? Why Congress did not allow? And if this is their demand and that is why they are agitating what is Congress’ position on this demand? What Congress wants to discuss?

  3. Government should withdraw the privileges of a citizen from those who flout the sanctity of the Indian union. Geelani and gang are essentially Pakistan’s proxies so tougher action against Gerlanis would be in order. Pakistan must withdraw from parts of Kashmir it illegally occupies and until such time there can be no dialogue.

  4. So does this mean the new Union Modi Govt did not know that this delegation was goin to meet those separatist leaders? Does it not show Modi Govt in poor light ?
In case they know and still keeping quiet without taking any action on Opposition leaders then also it would mean Modi Govt is simply blowing hot & cold with respect to Kashmir policy not knowing what to do like a “Headless chicken” but portraying via its most of its hyper-jingoistic/purposefully kept media/TV channels as if it is on track.

    • You are absolutely wrong. If Modi takes action immediately you will argue other way. Nothing can be done by these people, hence, Modi and team keeping a watch and will spring into surgical strike when these people do harm to this Great Nation. Don’t worry these will fall in their own trap.

      • By action i simply mean not allowing in the beginning itself/restricting clearly the Cong opposition peaceniks/leaders team to meet those separatist leaders..Modi Govt could have done that right? after all new Union Govt is supposed to take a hawkish stance right as claimed by ruling party leaders often? why was this not done and now you simply give a lame excuse for no action at all as if people would complain on some action?
Why to do a surgical strike etc when there was a simple cost effective option of preventing any type of back channel talks etc by any of the political class (ruling or opposition)?

  5. It is well known fact that Congress had created the J&k problem and it doesn’t want to be solved at any time so that India will always be weak with internal problems.Congress headed by Foreign mafia will play any dirty trick and stoop to any level to keep India disturbed and weak.Unless Congress headed by antinationals is thrown out,India continues to have this problem forever.

  6. We should adopt a policy that treats negotiation with separatists as anti-national activity and executes them for treason.

  7. I think there should be plethora of opinions in democracy and the visit is not out of place.Let us look at a scenario like this – The separatists in k valley get money from pakis to create trouble and the crooks use underground hawala organisation controlled by ISI.So the crooks must have been nudged by hawala guys to muddle the issue .What options when the goolies are in hawala hands? If the govt. has details of financial shenanigans of k separatists,is it not time to expose them?Don’t worry “paisa” getting some publicity on this.He must have been offered few glasses of free scotch. After getting sloshed,he will blabber few words and then slither away.
