Ram Madhav vs Satya Pal Malik over bribery allegation in J&K
Many feel young BJP leader former RSS Spokesperson Ram Madhav has fallen into a trap laid by veteran politician Governor Satya Pal Malik. Current Meghalaya Governor Malik recently revealed that during his tenure as Governor in Jammu & Kashmir, he was offered Rs.300 crore to clear two files. He named one file was to give approval to now-bankrupt business tycoon Anil Ambani’s Insurance scheme and on the second file clearing he did not specify who but said that the file was recommended by an RSS functionary without naming anyone[1]
During Malik’s tenure, J&K was ruled by PDP and BJP alliance and Ram Madhav was in charge of the troubled State. All of a sudden, on Sunday Ram Madhav, told the media Malik is targeting him and would consult for imitating legal action. The angry BJP leader also demanded a probe on all decisions taken by Satya Pal Malik during his tenure as Governor in J&K.[2]
What legal remedy can Ram Madhav expect to get, when Satya Pal Malik has not named him? Here Ram Madhav was falling into a trap laid by Malik.
Satya Pal Malik is a veteran politician and before landing in BJP, he was in all parties including all kinds of Socialist parties to Congress and knows all tricks of the trade. In his first revelation last week, he said that he had informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the Rs.300 crore bribe offer for clearing two files of (Rs.150 crore each) Anil Ambani’s firm and RSS functionary linked file. Malik was clever enough to claim that Modi supported him while attacking the Prime Minister in an indirect way by blaming the controversial three farm laws. Everybody in BJP and RSS was ignoring these revelations and expecting that after the Gubernatorial tenure Malik was planning to enter active politics by joining some other party.
But young BJP leader Ram Madhav who was in charge of J&K affairs lost cool on Sunday while talking to media in Rajkot and said that Malik was indirectly targeting him. “Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik has indirectly levelled allegations that there was a file in my name in J&K and that there was some talk about paying money in that respect. Such type of allegations is all false. There is no question of there being a file in my name or at my behest. It’s a false allegation…So far as his attempts to indirectly point at me by repeatedly referring to ‘one RSS functionary’, I’ll explore the legal remedy for this, once I return to Delhi,” Madhav said.
“We will certainly initiate legal action, but I also want (investigated) all the deals of his time, as he is saying he cancelled two of them. Why were they cancelled? If the government had finalized some deal there should be an investigation into why it was cancelled? I don’t know what deals he is talking about, but let there be an investigation into those deals, as well as, all others,” he added.

Similarly, PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti also said that she will file a defamation notice against Malik for accusing her of blatant corruption during her tenure as Chief Minister. Malik on Monday told the media that he has not yet received any notice. In an interview with Rajdeep Sardesai, Malik even said that Mehbooba doesn’t know the law properly and no case against Governor can be instituted, while repeating his allegations of Rs.300 crore involving Anil Ambani’s Health Insurance file and RSS functionary related function. He also added that he has no money to pay compensations on so-called defamation notice claims. He also accused BJP-led Goa Government of corrupt practices:
