Senior Income Tax official SK Srivastava has lodged a complaint to the Election Commission (EC) against former Finance Minister P Chidambaram and son Karti for pumping black money in the Lok Sabha election. In a two page letter, Income Tax Commissioner S K Srivastava detailed the “hushing up” of crores worth assets details by Karti and plundering money in the Sivaganga constituency to bribe the voters. He said there are many evidences that father and son are parking money in grocery shops across the constituency to provide free distribution of groceries to lure the voters.
Srivastava pointed out that the father and son duo are engaged in subversion of the election process and the Commission should take action against the duo for blatant violation of many Acts. He also accused the local election officers of shielding Karti and Chidambaram and not taking action against many complaints pointing out the pumping of money with evidence. The Income Tax Commissioner pointed out that father and son had parked money in grocery shops and the shop owners will distribute household items to voters to lure the electorate.
In his detailed complaint, the Income Tax official said that the affidavit filed Karti is just fake and he has not even declared the details of his assets across the country unearthed in Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate.
“In the course of the visit of Special Expenditure Observer of Sivaganga, it was found that as many as 67 complaints by physically available complainants over flagrant abuse of illegitimate black money by P Chidambaram where money was parked in the maligai stores (provision stores, மளிகை கடை), etc to be bribed to voters in the garb of purchase of provisions etc. has been hushed by the District Election Observer and Returning Officer by making eye wash inquires stating that on visit by junior officials no such cases were noticed and District level election officers have the guts to nonchalantly tell the Special Expenditure Observer of ECI that he and his officers did not consider that to be necessary to verify the complainants and ask them for necessary details about complaints against P Chidambaram over money being paid by him to voters,” said Srivastava in his complaint to the Election Commission, adding that he is ready to provide evidence.

“I need not tell the Election Commission that the district level election officers (DEO cum RO) are neither trained in investigation of financial frauds nor have the necessary support base to verify such frauds that too by a hardened criminal like P Chidambaram and the least that was to be done by the DEO cum RO was to refer the complaints to the local Income Tax Department for proper verification but for reasons obvious: the DEO cum RO not only did not pass on the information to the Income Tax Department but had stated to the Special Election Observer that he did not consider that to be necessary and farce being played by DEO cum RO needs no further elaboration, said Income Tax Commissioner S K Srivastava.
