[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]R[/dropcap]am Jethmalani starts the New Year with an acerbic open letter to Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, accusing Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi for ditching the PM in Sahara payoff case. According to the five page detailed letter Jethmalani tells Modi that the recent settlement of Sahara case by Income Tax is a trap laid out by Jaitley for Modi in the future.
The detailed letter accuses that the Income Tax settlement was orchestrated by Jaitley to put the records on government files. According to Jethmalani, this was a clear attempt to haunt Modi for a long time.
The letter warns Modi that the manner in which Jaitley and AG Rohatgi are proceeding appears to be a plan to implicate him (Modi) in the future. “I was a counsel for the Sahara for some time and I had received the account which contained some entries of cash payments to Modi some years ago. My friend Advocate Prashant had not only this but a similar one from the Birla Group. I wanted to give some advice to Modi because if Sahara Chief tell Police that entries are true, the unused Book of Account will be almost conclusive corroboration. Modi is not a lawyer and he does not know the law of evidence.”
“I am sure the settlement between Sahara and the Tax Authorities reported in almost all the newspapers is the work of others who doubtless include the Finance Minister and his illustrious Attorney General,” Jethmalani continues with his tirade against his onetime disciple Jaitley.
“Modi is too innocent but by now he should understand that there is a distinct possibility almost a probability that this so called settlement is a trap laid for him by his enemies to send him to jail and substitute some scoundrel in his place,” writes Jethmalani.

The letter of Mr.Jethmalani clearly shows his personal animosity towards Mr.Jaitely. Instead of commenting on the entries in sahara paper, where politicians names are mentioned, which includes Mr.Modi, when he was CM, Gujarat, he is trying to accuse Mr.Jaitely for the urgent settlement by the income tax settlement commission. Mr.Jethmalani should tell whether the entries in his opinion are true or not. He should also tell whether as per his opinion Mr.Modi is innocent and he is trapped by the sahara and Mr.Jaitely.
