Manmohan’s Economics With Truth Has Resulted In Crying Wolf

The “secret” meeting between Pakistan personalities with Manmohan Singh and his brigades was something that raises suspicion

Even after his puerile description of India’s November 2016 Demonetisation as “Organised Loot and Legalised Plunder,” Manmohan Singh is often enough proclaimed as an economist. True or false, Doctor sahib is being extremely economical with the truth when he describes Prime Minister Modi’s reference to his presence in a recent meeting with some Pakistani top personalities as warranting a public apology.

Just see a portion of his statement he issued in mid-December. He says therein that questioning the purpose of the Congress-led delegation’s meeting a few Pak officials at a private residence, Prime Minister Modi was spreading “falsehood and canards being spread to score political points in a lost cause”. He further said “Fearing imminent defeat in Gujarat, the desperation of Prime Minister to hurl every abuse and latch on to every straw is palpable. Sadly & regrettably, Sh. Modi is setting a dangerous precedent with his insatiable desire to tarnish every constitutional office, including that of a former Prime Minister and Army Chief.” In short, Manmohan Singh was alleging that Prime Minister Modi was lying in order to hide a electoral loss. And, in a sort of egoistic flourish, Manmohan Singh proclaimed that “My track record of public service to the country over last five decades is known to everyone. No one, including Sh. Modi can lamely question it to gain lost political ground.”

Probably, no Indian has so far found Manmohan Singh as angry and agonized as reported above. He has not known to be as disturbed even when Sanjaya Baru, his Media Adviser in the PM’s office from May 2004 to August 2008, wrote in his book “The Accidental Prime Minister” that “significant power was wielded by the Congress party’s president Sonia Gandhi, to whom Singh was completely ‘subservient’ (sic)” and, when asked to explain that stance, Manmohan Singh said, “There cannot be two centres of power… I have to accept that the party president is the centre of power. The government is answerable to the party.”

Government responsible for the party? A Prime Minister of a country responsible to his political party?? Come. come, Manmohan Singhji, that’s an unbelievable new one in the political lexicon.

All that apart, the basic issue is that Prime Minister Modi NEVER, just never, mentioned any “conspiracy” or any “treason” or any “anti-nationalism” on the part of Manmohan Singh. All he was saying was that the “secret” meeting between Pakistan personalities with Manmohan Singh and his brigades was something that raises suspicion because the meeting came in between the Gujarat election process. And, let it be stated, a protocol for such meetings with an international political adversary required prior information to the ruling Union government — something that was not done.

Finally, does Manmohan Singh justify the sensitivity of his ego to the extent of stopping Parliament from functioning?
