[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]T[/dropcap]he Left wing activist Dr. Narendra Dabholkar murder probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is going nowhere with many missing links. He was shot dead on August 20, 2013 by two assailants on a motorcycle. After 33 months, in June 2016 one Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Specialist Dr. Virendra Tawde, a former Hindu Janajagruti Samiti office bearer was arrested in Kolhapur. His arrest was based on the statement of a local goldsmith Sanjay Sadvilkar.
Dabholkar, who was assassinated during the Congress-NCP regime in the state, was heading a Trust called Andhasharaddha Nirmoolan Samiti and was indicted by the auditors of the State, after finding a series of financial malpractices.
The goldsmith alleged that Dr. Tawade had approached him for a pistol and bullets. It is a fact that the goldsmith is facing probe on the complaint filed by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) for misappropriation of 400kgs of silver which was provided to him for preparing a silver chariot for Mahalakshmi Temple in Kolhapur. This shows that the goldsmith was holding a grudge with HJS and the District Collector’s report indicted goldsmith for the misappropriation. Here is the question: Is this goldsmith a credible witness?
Another interesting aspect is also attributed. Dabholkar, who was assassinated during the Congress-NCP regime in the state, was heading a Trust called Andhasharaddha Nirmoolan Samiti and was indicted by the auditors of the State, after finding a series of financial malpractices. Many of the key trustees were indicted. Dabholkar was indicted for misusing the trust money for not filing accounts for decades and purchasing vehicle for personal use. Huge money was received by the trust from abroad and now the trust’s license to receive donation from abroad has been cancelled by Ministry of Home Affairs.
[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]A[/dropcap]nother interesting fact is that National Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar’s brother Pratap Pawar is also a Trustee of Dabholkar led Trust. On February 8, 2017, Pratap Pawar and other key trustees were summoned by Charity Commissioner’s Office in Satara for to explain the huge swindling of money received by the trust.
Over a period, the State Intelligence Bureau has reported about naxal links with Dabholkar’s trust and one of the key persons Naresh Bansod was arrested along with Naxal leaders linked to violent activities in Gadchiroli.
It appears as though the CBI has not thus far considered these facts and the probe appears to have stalled.
