Nupur Sharma – National Superstar for Hinduism, Hindutva, and Hindus

In my informed view, Nupur Sharma (NS), the educated lawyer with profound knowledge of India’s social and political ecosystem, is a “blameless and Devout Hindu” and not “blasphemous” as chastised by the left-leaning media and the Islamic jihadists in India and abroad. The opposition parties added fuel to the fire just because NS was a designated spokesperson and public face for the BJP, the archrival of Congress, and other regional parties for decades. I go a step further that NS stands for ‘National Superstar’ for Hinduism, Hindutva, and Hindus (who believe in Sanatan Dharma).

What NS said in a nationally televised debate is the “bitter truth” with the references quoted from Islamic texts. That is how an intellectual and objective debate ought to be among the debaters in a civilized society. Unfortunately, however, often a group of clueless Islamists without the intellect, the left media devoid of any journalistic objectivity and ethics, and the opposition party leaders are least interested in debating an issue. They are oblivious to national interest and just derive pleasure in badmouthing Hinduism due to their blind faith and what many believe, although erroneously, is commanded by their Prophet. Many of them are the product of madrasas for the foundational education and thus incapable to see beyond their radical ideology of jihad against Kefirs, the term they use for Hindus. The cast of such characters is far too many in India and beyond.

I wonder if it was by accident or by design that the truth quoted by NS erupted into a global controversy about a week later. Reportedly, Qatar was the first Islamic country with its well-oiled propaganda machine Al Jazeera adding fuel to the fire. Subsequently, more than a dozen OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) members joined the bandwagon of protests against NS pressuring and chastising India on many fronts. There are numerous reports about diplomatic, and perhaps not so diplomatic, tactics adopted by Islamic countries to point fingers at India and in complete denial about the bitter truth by NS. However, I ask the question of why Qatar, with a population of nearly 3 million including a fourth of them of Indian origin in their workforce, would dare act alone, or was it instigated due to the external pressures.

In my analysis, all fingers point to the United States’ failed diplomacy in persuading India to take sides against Russia in the worsening Ukraine war with no end in sight. The top U.S. and Indian diplomats have met, the government officials from European countries have had talks with their counterparts in India, and even the QUAD summit in Japan did not succeed in making India change its course. In desperation, the U.S. resorted to what I characterize as dirty and deceptive politics/ foreign policy to twist India’s arms with Qatar firing the shots.

Why would Qatar do it? First, Qatar, the U.S. strategic ally in the region, hosts more than 10,000 troops at the sprawling Al Died base. It is the headquarters for American air operations in the region and hosts a fleet of midair refueling tankers, along with reconnaissance aircraft. The recent $12 billion deal will train Qatar’s air force to fly the newest model of the F-15 fighter jet and perhaps more. Qatar, ruled by an absolute monarchy under Shariah law, holds 13% of the world’s oil reserve.

While the political games are not always in the open, it is plausible that Qatar’s Emir aspires to be the “king” in the region and needs tactical support from the U.S. to challenge others with its military and economic might (the highest per capita in the world). In return, of course, the U.S. is benefitting from its arms sales, strong foothold militarily in Qatar, and controlling parts of the oil reserve. A very sweet mutual deal, indeed. However, in all of this geopolitical game, India and the factual statement by NS became the scapegoat because the U.S. cannot see beyond Russia to lose at any cost. How short is our memory that the U.S. went to Afghanistan to rid of Soviet occupation and returned empty-handed with the Afghan under the Taliban’s control?

I have not been to Qatar but I sense the arrogance of its autocratic Emir making totally unwelcome and uncalled for noise against the world’s largest and most peaceful New India. While all countries are increasingly interdependent in trade and other economic factors and digitally interconnected, India must rethink and reevaluate how important is Qatar politically, economically, and socially. For heaven’s sake, Qatar as a nation has a population less than the city of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. I chose Lucknow because it has been known for its Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb, a delightful term describing India of the past, but now completely destroyed by the recent violence and stone-throwing culture on the streets, particularly after the Friday prayers across many cities[1].

It is sad that the demonstration and destruction all around India are on the rise. The eruption started with NS’s factual statement and the legal challenge to seek the truth about hundreds of mosques built over temples desiccated during the ruthless Muslim rulers’ dominance. Now, the brilliant new experiment of military recruitment called Agnipath is being opposed and instigated by some of the same bad elements in society. The protestors have little or no understanding of how Agnipath will modernize, strengthen, and build a youthful army to serve the nation. More saddening and unfortunate is that the opposition political parties and radical Islamists from within are joining hands with the external forces like Qatar and Al Jazeera, the Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qaeda, Hamas, and other like-minded organizations with no respect but only disdain, for Hinduism and Hindus. I surmise that other anti-India players include the Soros Foundation and pro-Khalistan supporters who would like to see India destabilized in a heartbeat.

Let us just take one example of how one of India’s own citizens was the mastermind behind the violence by Islamic fundamentalists in Prayagraj on June 10 against Nupur Sharma’s allegedly derogatory remarks on Prophet Muhammad[2]. He was Javed Ahmed alias pump who is currently behind bars and his house bulldozed under the strict observance of the laws. It is alleged that Javed Ahmed had built the house without requisite authorization. Reportedly, his daughter, Sara Ahmed, an activist student at the infamous JNU, is also involved in such anti-Hindu and anti-national activities. It is also reported that the Javed Ahmed family was running more than one NGO and allegedly receiving funds from outside the country such as Turkey.

On the human level, it is so tragic to see any house bulldozed and a family dislodged but many belonging to the so-called minority religion of peace, deserve no better. For years, they have been relentlessly and repeatedly creating lawlessness, violence, religious intolerance, and atrocities against the majority of Hindus while enjoying the ill-gotten wealth and illegally built houses. Everyone must choose between the path of progress and truth in the civilized world or suffer the consequences of their denial of the truth leading to destruction.

The geopolitical storm caused by the bitter truth by “National Superstar” Nupur Sharma, is a lesson of history, cultural values, religious beliefs, denial of the truth, and most of all the Dadagiri by about the 20% against the 80%. Every storm is followed by the calm as it runs out of rain and every night is followed by the daylight but why do the anti-national elements think that they could hide behind their crimes and never be detected/ found. The emerging New India must adopt the Yogi model of bulldozing the illegal properties of all criminals and hooligans, hold them accountable for the damage caused due to their actions, put them behind bars for anti-national activities, and/ or ensure that all bad deeds are punished to the highest degree under the law and constitution.

As far as Nupur Sharma, I did not appreciate or condone BJP’s decision to revoke her membership but as time passed and analyzed the geopolitical storm and numerous threats again her and her family, it was the right decision. Her own safety and protecting the family from the Islamic jihadists are very important. I have no doubt that when the dust settles, NS will re-emerge stronger and more resolute global icon for Hindus, Hinduism, and Hindutva. As an articulate BJP party spokesperson, she always inspired many like me and will continue to inspire even more as a global symbol to have rocked the foundation of the OIC.

Let the leaders of misguided political opposition also be warned that they are likely targets of Yogi-like bulldozer-like policies should they continue to incite religious and social unrest and become the source of anti-national propaganda. They must understand that New India is slowly but steadily rising above the Jatiwad and Pariwarwad, under the leadership of Modi, Shah, and Yogi. India is blessed to have a unique trio of Modi, the calm and deliberative but a believer in master strokes, Shah, the strategist, straight shooter, and making things happen, and Yogi, the fearless and diehard doer. India not only deserves but needs the trio to continue for many more decades to regain and restore Bharat’s lost pride, culture, moral, and confidence. It took nearly 70 years to see a fraction of Hindus awakening since 2014 but the time is now and here to awaken all Hindus globally. We must continue to groom our National Superheroes like Nupur Sharma who are articulate, resolute, and believe in Satyamev Jayate.

  1. Thank you for your comment. The tensions are clearly politically motivated. With respect to a quote from the Quran, if it is factual and even stated before by another Muslim cleric without any fuss, why Nupur Sharma should be chastized. I agree, however, that she should have been more cautious. Let us be objective- it was a debate and that too is based on the facts from Quran.
India has survived many extreme situations and now facing Agnipath-related tensions. Perhaps too much freedom is being misused by the vested interests, I totally agree that we must all try to live peacefully in beautiful India; there is no other nation with so much diversity and potential to live in harmony other than India because I have seen it and experienced it.

  2. How come India is on path with increasing tensions? It may be true that Sharma is just quoting the Quran but that it fuels to fire is clear and honestly better could be expected from a spokesperson of a ruling party. This article seems to be white washing bad behavior.

Why choose such a path for India? Why increase tensions? This whole discussion is not about who is right, it’s about how can you shape society together given people have different backgrounds. You cannot control Pakistan but at least you can try to all live peacefully in beautiful India.
