Ever since  Pakistan sponsored militancy erupted in the state of Jammu and Kashmir it has left behind a trail of death and destruction.

According to rough estimates, more than 44,000 lives have been lost in incidents of violence.

Who so ever occupied the seat of power in Pakistan, elected representative or a military ruler there was no change in their Kashmir policy.

As a cricketer he earned a lot of respect and piloted many victories for his team but after becoming Prime Minister of a rogue country, which has already earned for itself  the sobriquet of ‘epicentre of terror organisations’

Despite making tall statements while resuming office and making commitments during summit level meetings almost all the rulers in Pakistan failed to prevent the use of their own territory by militant commanders who launched trained terrorists inside the Indian territory from different launching pads after imparting them commando training inside ‘terror’ factories.

Now as Pakistan is witnessing the emergence of legendary cricketer Imran Khan on the horizon can peaceniks in India expect a change of heart in the Pakistani establishment leading to peace in the region.

It is too early to predict the outcome as Imran Khan is yet to start his innings on a bouncy track.

An all-rounder in Imran Khan cannot afford to be defensive in the beginning and if he chooses to come on the front foot he will have to duck many bouncers to be able to stay on the pitch for long innings.

As a cricketer he earned a lot of respect and piloted many victories for his team but after becoming Prime Minister of a rogue country, which has already earned for itself  the sobriquet of ‘epicentre of terror organisations’, Imran Khan will have to do a tight rope walking to stay  in power and balance the aspirations of people of his country and the military establishment.

Indian paying heavy price to earn peace in the region

To restore peace and order more than 6400 security personnel belonging to different organisations including Indian army, IAF, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, and the jawans of state police have sacrificed their lives.

More than 14500 civilians have fallen victims while over 23000 militants have been eliminated so far in this ongoing proxy war.

The highest number of 555 rockets were seized in the year 2000. A hefty number of more than 5800 Anti-personnel mines were also recovered during the same period

Recovery of weapons and explosives since 1990

Security forces engaged in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir prevented a large number of terror attacks and also exposed series of major terror plots leading to timely detection and recovery of over 13,000 kilograms of RDX explosive material.

In addition, security forces have also recovered 33,000 kilograms of other explosives since 1990 from different militant hideouts, site of encounter etc.

During the same period, the security forces also detected 6500 Improvised explosive devices (IED’s) planted by different militant outfits to target men in uniform and their motorcades.

Apart from this, more than 64,000 grenades were also recovered by the security forces during peak days of militancy when the state was believed to have been sitting on the powder keg.

Major tragedies were averted with the timely seizure of rockets from the militant hideouts. Over 4800 rockets were recovered by the security forces from the militant outfits in the last twenty years of violence across the state.

The highest number of 555 rockets were seized in the year 2000. A hefty number of more than 5800 Anti-personnel mines were also recovered during the same period.

The maximum number of 1280 explosions and 1522 grenade blasts took place in 1990

According to the state Home department report, “28 CAR bomb blasts were triggered by militants between 2002 and March 2010.

“The Year 2005 was the bloodiest in terms of recording highest number of 13 car bomb blasts, the year Mufti Mohd Sayeed handed over power baton to Ghulam Nabi Azad”.

Minutes before Azad took the oath of office he was greeted by powerful car bomb blast in Kashmir valley and the trial went on for next few days. His tough posturing against militant groups lead to a sudden fall in the rate of car bomb blasts. In the year 2006,  the figure dropped to 5 car bomb blasts and in the last three years only 3 car bomb blast, 2 in 2007 and one in 2009 was triggered by the militants.

Till 2001 militant outfits never resorted to using of car bomb blasts in the Kashmir valley, the report revealed.

Interestingly, use of RDX by militant groups also came to light with the recovery of consignments of RDX for the first time during 1996. Since then over 13,000 kg of RDX has been recovered by the security forces across the state.

According to the report, “a total number of over 5900 explosions/IED blasts and over 12500 grenade explosions took place across the state since the eruption of militancy.

“The maximum number of 1280 explosions and 1522 grenade blasts took place in 1990”.

During the period of turmoil, the security forces also recovered more than 40 lakh rounds of AK-47/56/74 automatic rifles, 23000 rounds of pistol revolver, two dozen telescope rifles, 128580 rounds of UMG, 48200 rounds of sniper rifle etc.

  1. Time for payback to Pakistan. Imran election is foregone conclusion. His disappointing the electrorate is yet to be seen. With no money, Saudi also refusing, China is hands full, any more money means mortaging some land in Pakistan to become annexe to China. Military will not allow him a free hand. So though his intentions may be genuine, but reality will bleed him.

  2. Trail of destruction in Kashmir is continuing from 1947 and will continue. The fault is basically with Hindu lawmakers whose satwick mindset is no match for Muslim Jehadi mindset. Hindus have been thrown out from pak, Afghanistan and Bangladesh and Kashmir in the last century and Hindus in India are now being hounded by secular Hindu politicians. Past is past. Now, do hindu politicians have a plan to solve the Kashmir issue or put blame on Pak?

  3. If they do not ditch Infant Circumcision, halaal butchery, Triple Talaq, Burqa Code and The Savage Prophet along with his ravings Islam will not attain civilisation status.
Imran is just another barbarian in a Barbarian country.
