PM Modi to launch LiFe via video conferencing

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a global initiative ‘Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE) Movement’ on June 5 via video conferencing. During the event, the PM will also deliver the keynote address.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, and World Bank President David Malpass, along with others, will take part in the launch.

The co-Chairman of Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the programme will also witness the participation of Climate Economist Lord Nicholas Stern, author of Nudge Theory Prof. Cass Sunstein, CEO and President World Resources Institute Mr. Aniruddha Dasgupta, UNEP Global Head Ms. Inger Andersen, UNDP Global Head Mr. Achim Steiner, among others.

The idea of LiFE was introduced by PM Modi during the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow last year. The idea promotes an environmentally conscious lifestyle that focuses on ‘mindful and deliberate utilization’ instead of ‘mindless and destructive consumption’.

The launch will initiate the ‘LiFE Global Call for Papers’ inviting ideas and suggestions from academics, universities, research institutions, etc, to influence and persuade individuals, communities, and organizations across the world to adopt an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

Recently at the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Davos Agenda 2022, PM Modi introduced the “P3 (Pro-Planet People) movement” that underlines India’s climate change commitments. He pointed toward the challenges that our lifestyle causes for the climate.
