Urges Corporate Houses to gear up to deal with the crisis
Expressing anguish, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday rued that some people are not taking the lockdown in the country seriously in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. Modi appealed to the people to save their family members and themselves by strictly adhering to the directions being given by the State and Central Governments. He also requested the State Governments to make people adhere to the lockdown.
“Many people are still not taking the lockdown seriously. Please save yourself by doing this, save your family, follow the instructions seriously. I request the state governments to get the rules and laws followed,” Modi tweeted in the morning.
Later Prime Minister interacted with industry representatives via video conference from ASSOCHAM, FICCI, CII and several local Chambers from eighteen cities across the country. He appealed to the Corporates to keep united in dealing with the economic and social issues in the current chaotic situation and reiterated that the companies should not go for retrenchment or salary cut. Modi asked the Corporate Houses to be passionate to their manpower and provide all sorts of help to them as well as to the society in upholding the corporate social responsibility. Soon after the Prime Minister’s meeting, Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Industries declared that they have geared up the production of one lakh masks per day and increased the production of other hospital-related materials. They also offered support to free meal schemes across the country and fuel supply.

On Sunday, industrialist Anil Agarwal has announced that he has committed Rs 100 crore towards fighting the coronavirus pandemic that has hit the nation. Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra also offered the facilities of the group’s hospitality arm as medical care facilities while the group will work on how its manufacturing facilities can make ventilators[1].
“Going by various reports from epidemiologists, it is highly likely that India is already in stage-3 of transmission. Cases could rise exponentially with millions of casualties, putting a huge strain on medical infrastructure,” Mahindra said in a series of tweets.

Sharing plans of the group which has presence across sectors ranging from farm equipment to aerospace, he said, “To help in the response to this unprecedented threat, we at the Mahindra Group will immediately begin work on how our manufacturing facilities can make ventilators.”
Prime Minister said that while the government was working on giving fillip to the pace of growth in the country, an unforeseen hurdle in the form of COVID-19 came in front of the economy. He said that the challenge posed by the pandemic is graver than even that posed by the World Wars and we need to be on constant vigil to prevent its spread. Modi told the barons that the fulcrum of the economy is trust.
“Trust has a unique yardstick – it is earned or lost in difficult and challenging times. The parameters of trust are at a critical juncture in various sectors of the economy. Several sectors like tourism, construction, hospitality and daily life engagements including the informal sector have been hit due to COVID-19. The impact on the economy will be felt for some time to come,” said Modi to the industrialists.
The industry representatives thanked the Prime Minister for leading from the front and taking swift, front-footed action to counter the threat. They informed the Prime Minister about the steps being taken by them to maintain supply lines of essential items and medical equipment including ventilators, assistance in creation of isolation wards, utilization of CSR funds for combating COVID-19 and provision of assistance to migrant labour.

Why is PGurus not writing about the origins of this unusual Pandemic. If wet market is really the reason, in my opinion, South East Asia with its tropical humid climate should have been prone to a sustained release of such pathogens. Not the cold climate of China.
Kanika said, “I’ve been here since 11 am and all I’ve been given is a small bottle of water to drink. I’ve been asking these people to give me something to eat but I’ve only been given two small bananas and an orange that had flies on it. I am so hungry, I haven’t even taken the medicine that I was supposed to till now. I have fever, I’ve informed them, but no one has attended to me. The food I brought with me has been taken away. I can’t even eat anything that’s given to me as I am allergic to some foods. I am hungry, thirsty and I feel miserable here.”
Kanika confirmed that she’d tested positive for coronavirus by sharing a lengthy post on her official Instagram account.
“Hello everyone. For the past 4 days I have had signs of flu, I got myself tested and it came positive for Covid-19. My family and I are in complete quarantine now and following medical advice on how to move forward. Contact mapping of people I have been in touch with is underway as well,” she wrote on Instagram.
India is a nation where self discipline ( watch behaviour of parliamentarians ), social discipline ( behaviour in society ) and national discipline ( behaviour when staying abroad ) is lacking. Most self centred and chaotic race. Though friendly and hospitable , insecurity and lack of faith in legal system have got disrepute to Indians.
