Pul suicide note – Is someone trying to blackmail the Judiciary?

A 60-page suicide note sounds highly suspicious which begs the question: Was it a suicide?

Pul suicide note of 60 pages would have taken him 3-4 days of his time, before he committed suicide!

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]F[/dropcap]or the past two weeks, Lutyens’ Delhi is abuzz with former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul’s “suicide notes”. If this 60 page write-up typed in Hindi, is a suicide note, then it would be in contention for the longest suicide note in Guinness Book of Records. For typing 60 pages, you need a minimum of three to four days; and that is if Pul worked on it full time before committing suicide.

Pul’s note shows that he curses the Judges who gave verdict against the horse trading in the state. It targets honest Judges like Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice Dipak Misra.

Six months after Pul’s death his note surfaces in Lutyen’s Delhi from Arunachal Pradesh, accusing all judges who gave the verdict against him. It is natural that anyone who lost the case will blame the Judges who wrote the judgment. But Pul is a politician and as a breed, they are supposed to be thick skinned. He is not an angel. He belongs to a class of Arunachal politicians who change parties according to who is in power in New Delhi. He was in Congress like the other politicians in the state, when the Centre was ruled by Congress and these weathercocks changed to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), when the saffron party came to power in Centre.

Like any other North Eastern state, corruption is so high and rampant that money is directly withdrawn from state treasury and banks for under the table deals because of lack of strict accounting procedures.

Pul’s note shows that he curses the Judges who gave verdict against the horse trading in the state. It targets honest Judges like Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice Dipak Misra. Pul who lost the case accuses the Judges’ relatives for demanding money from him for a “favourable judgment.” Till date no one has doubted their integrity and these two Judges were/ are a real eye sore for corrupt brokers in Lutyens’ lobbies led by many an Advocate–cum–politician who engage in fixing judgments.

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]O[/dropcap]nce again Public Interest Litigation (PIL) activist lawyer Prashant Bhushan’s shoulders were used to fire at these two honest judges; Perhaps Bhushan holds a grudge against Khehar, who dismissed the Sahara-Birla diaries case that he had initiated, which was nothing but a ploy to malign Prime Minister Narendra Modi. No need of super human intelligence to understand that these dubious Sahara-Birla diaries were leaked by the Income Tax Department, which comes under Finance Ministry, led Arun Jaitley.

At the end of the day, those who argue for action on the so called suicide note would have to go through the legal procedures.

Today there was a lot of drama at the Supreme Court. Bhushan did not argue the case; instead on behalf of Pul’s wife it was argued by Dushyant Dave, who occasionally bats for Bhushan. First Dave argued that this case be listed before other Judges, accusing Justice Adarsh Goel’s proximity with Justice Khehar. And losing that and other arguments, Dave said that he would prefer to complain to President of India. But Pul had also blamed Pranab Mukherjee for taking money. Now the advocates say that they would complain to the Vice President of India Hamid Ansari! Should this be taken seriously? Did Pul commit suicide or was it a murder made to look like a suicide?

At the end of the day, those who argue for action on the so called suicide note would have to go through the legal procedures. Did they approach the Police? Did the Police fail to register the case based on the suicide note? If they did, then they should have to gone to the Magistrate’s Court, and then the High Court and so on. But this case rocketed straight to the Supreme Court. It is a fact that in such cases involving high profile persons, there would be a delay. But was this note a real one? Can anybody type 60 pages? Where was Pul’s wife when her husband was in mental tension?

These doubts raise a lot of uncomfortable questions about the merits of this case. A 60-page suicide note is highly suspicious. What were they thinking? Kill two birds with one stone? (Suicide Note and a Guinness Record)?!
