Rajnikanth, a new hope for TN

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]A[/dropcap]midst allegations of massive corruption in the AIADMK (Amma) government led by Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy and an impending political uncertainty staring the State, there is one more contender for the top job in Tamil Nadu.

Rajnikant, the reigning superstar of Tamil films, declared on Monday that politics was not a bad job and he does not like to disappoint his fans who demand him to enter politics. The actor in an interaction with his fans, the first in the last eight years, declared that if he does not join politics, his fans would get disappointed.

“Political analysts in Tamil Nadu have been claiming that Rajnikanth would cast his lots with the BJP”

“I am a mere tool in the hands of God. He only made me an actor. If God has destined that I should become a politician, I will not shun the responsibility,” declared Rajnikanth amidst thundering claps by his fans who had assembled at the Raghavendra Thirumana Hall at Kodambakkam, a Chennai suburb on Monday.

But he was quick to point out that those who are dabbling in politics with the sole aim of making money could never hope to come under his umbrella. This statement is seen in synchronisation with the latest allegation against Palaniswamy government that KIA, the Korean car maker decided to shift base from Chennai to Andhra Pradesh following demands of a big bribe by Tamil Nadu politicians.

Political analysts in Tamil Nadu have been claiming that Rajnikanth would cast his lots with the BJP. But most of the political commentators and analysts in Tamil Nadu are either Dravidian wolves or Leftists who masquerade as independent observers though they propagate the Dravidian and Marxist views as their expert opinions.

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]R[/dropcap]ajnikanth conceded on Monday that it was wrong on his part to campaign for the DMK-led front in the 1996 assembly election. While many observers in Tamil Nadu portrayed the visit of Narendra Modi to Rajnikant’s house in the run up to the 2014 Lok Sabha election as an act to solicit the support of the actor, they had ignored the writing on the wall. Modi was sending a message to the hundreds of thousands of Tamil voters in his home state Gujarat that he was responsive to all issues concerning the people. Modi calling on the ailing Rajnikant got him the good will of the Tamil voters all over the country.

Though Rajnikanth hinted that he would not shy away from politics if it was needed from him, he has not revealed his plan of operation.

Interestingly, no national leaders of other political parties who had toured Tamil Nadu took the effort to call on Rajnikant. The only politician of importance who visited Rajnikanth during the Lok Sabha election was M K Azhagiri, elder son of DMK chief M Karunanidhi.

Though Rajnikanth hinted that he would not shy away from politics if it was needed from him, he has not revealed his plan of operation. It is not known whether he would launch a new political party (for which there are no dearth in Tamil Nadu) or cast his lot with one of the existing outfits. Some conclusions could be drawn from the speech made by Rajnikanth on Monday. He exhorted his fans to shun liquor, smoking and drugs as they are all harmful and hazardous to health as well as the family members. Throughout the speech Rajnikanth asked his fans to take care of their family members, especially the parents, the old, and the children. This is sufficient proof that the actor would never join hands with the Communists, the Congress and the Dravidians because these elements are anathema to the above mentioned political parties.

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]A[/dropcap]s on date, the main contenders for Tamil Nadu’s top job are Edappadi Palaniswamy, O Panneerselvam, M K Stalin, Dr Anbumani Ramadoss and Vijayakanth. “Given a choice between Palaniswamy and Panneerselvam, people in Tamil Nadu would prefer the latter. If the AIADMK factions continue to be in a mutually destructive mood, then Stalin would walk away with the top honours. But if Rajnikanth enters the arena, then it is an open match with Rajnikanth enjoying the edge,” said N Kalyanasudaram, a political journalist with more than five decades experience covering Tamil Nadu politics.

Though there are no shortage of contestants for the chief minister’s post, the truth is that Tamil Nadu is facing a leadership vacuum. People are left with no options other than EPS, OPS, Stalin and the likes. “It is like the proverb, in the land of the blind, the one-eyed becomes the king. Tamil Nadu needs a leader who can take the people with him and lead them from the front. There is nobody in the State who meet the stature and charisma of MGR, Jayalalithaa or Kamaraj. So let’s see whether Rajnikanth can fill the void,” said Kalyanasundaram.

You people out here just want to demean south Indians, yes we go and watch Rajini film on first day but we don’t do the religious warfare, nor do we have hatred against other religions. While you fight for Ram Mandir in UP, in tamilnadu Muslims invite Hindus home to serve Biryani for ramzan. Also by the way no of actors who succeeded in politics:
    1. MGR
    2.Jayalalitha

No of actors who did not
    1.Bhagyaraj
2.Sivaji Ganeshan (he has got Chevalier award and honoured by Indian govt)
    3. T. Rajendar
    4.Khusboo
    5.Nagma

    list goes on

So please stop living in farce reality. Go and check which other state has enough writers in their language or book fairs. Tamilnadu will always be a socio economic land of development. Yes there are problems but people will choose a better option soon

    • Every Indian language has fantastic list of writers and most of the languages are very well developed. If you want an idea what is in store literature wise, just read the writings of many famous kannada writers Kuvempu, or living legend SL Byrappa for examples.I can go on about malayalam,Telugu, marathi…Infact kannada writers are the highest among Sahitya award winners. You live in a little pond, don’t think that is entire India.Have respect for other states..All these states are well developed culturally/economically/educationally.Don’t fool with self praising.

  2. A state full of whistle podum kunjugal..bunch of pathetic fellers after brain washing done by dravida idiots/crooks.

    • State leading a Celluloid life. I am sure they are open to a cabinet full of actors and actresses holding different cabinet posts and acting out their roles.
And of course backed by corrupt goons like Stalin, Sarath kumar and his boss at Ramachandra to the hilt.
