Tightening his attack, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday filed an application before the Delhi High Court (DHC) to make the Enforcement Directorate (ED) a party in the Sunanda murder probe case. In the petition filed before the Bench headed by Justice G S Sistani, Swamy and co-petitioner Ishkaran Bhandari pointed out that the DPH, in its status report said that their Economic Offence Wing (EOW) found that Sunanda’s death was related to the Indian Premier League (IPL) Cricket related issues and handed over files to the ED.

The first Status Report was punctured by Subramanian Swamy pointing out the lacunae and wrong doings in the first probe team of Delhi Police headed by then Joint Commissioner Vivek Gogia.

Recently the ED has collected files from the DPH on this matter. “That Point 2(ii) of the Status Report dated 22.07.2017 submitted by the Delhi Police states that the Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police has conducted a separate, detailed enquiry on the issue of IPL controversy and its findings have been forwarded to the ED through the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, for appropriate disposal,” said the petition filed by Swamy

“That in a recent development, the Enforcement Directorate has written to the Delhi Police and is likely to register a First Information Report (FIR). Thus, its respectfully submitted that the Enforcement Directorate be impleaded as a party in the instant writ petition as it is a necessary and proper party, and it be directed to file its Status Report,” added Swamy in his petition filed before Delhi High Court on August 24.

A day before her murder on January 17, 2014, Sunanda had tweeted that she was carrying the IPL dirt of Shashi Tharoor and she is going to expose him for ditching her by flirting with Pakistani journalist cum socialite Mehr Tarar. By early morning of the 18th, Sunanda had invited four journalists to expose the IPL frauds and by the evening she was found dead.

The next hearing on this matter is scheduled for August 30 in the Delhi High Court, which had asked Delhi Police to come with a comprehensive Status Report. The first Status Report was punctured by Subramanian Swamy pointing out the lacunae and wrong doings in the first probe team of Delhi Police headed by then Joint Commissioner Vivek Gogia. Delhi Police was slammed by Judges and asked to come out with detailed Status Report by August 30.

  1. Sasitharoor being highly educated can not be thought of murdering his wife but there may be some unknown involvement from the high position who was afraid of the economic offence .Sasitharoor should come out clean and help the court to find out the real criminals.
