As Pakistan continues to send infiltrators into India (the latest was in Baramulla sector) BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to stop import of Pakistan in the wake of ongoing issues. In his letter on Monday, Swamy pointed out that India has stopped customs levy duty on cement import from 2007 and Pakistan is using this advantage to dump their cement at cheap rates in India, hurting the domestic production.
Swamy pointed out that India is the second largest cement producing country and currently country is producing enough production and the import from Pakistan at a cheap rate is seriously affecting Indian companies. Citing the details of economic factors of India’s cement production, Pakistan’s cement factories, mainly funded owned by retired top army officials are taking advantage with Indian companies due to the no customs duty from India’s side.
It is believed that most cement companies in Pakistan are directly or indirectly funded by Retired Army Welfare Fund managed by retired Generals.

“On the other hand, India has become a dumping ground for imported cement, particularly from Pakistan, China and Bangladesh. It is ironical that while on every front Pakistan continues to trouble us, India continues to allow duty-free import of cement from Pakistan at the cost of Indian cement industry and employment in India,” he said pointing out the lacuna in our policy.
Swamy argued that continuing duty-free import of cement from Pakistan is totally hurting the ‘Make in India’ policy. From the graph below, courtesy InfodriveIndia.com, it can be easily seen that Pakistan is the biggest exporter of Cement to India (19.63%).
Explaining how Pakistan is dumping cement in India at a very cheap rate, which is less than their domestic price, he urged that it is high time to change our policy, which hits Indian factories. “It is believed that most cement companies in Pakistan are directly or indirectly funded by Retired Army Welfare Fund managed by retired Generals. It is likely that lower prices to Indian traders may be a way of funding anti-India activities.”
“Besides, news items in the media frequently report, not only in India but in countries like Malaysia, importing cement from Pakistan to the effect that customs officials have recovered Heroin concealed in cement bags imported from Pakistan,” said Swamy, adding that fake currency and other smuggling were also caught in the garb of cement import from Pakistan.

It seems Swamy ji is doing all fighting of financial crimes in India. Not sure what the designated Finance Minister is doing? These are natural steps he MUST have taken without even pointing. I don’t know what good this FM who can’t even stand for 10 mins. Why can’t they retire?
