The Modi government suffers from the 95 percent syndrome. It is an affliction when the government has done 95% of the work but fails to cross the finish line. In some cases, this number can go as high as 99% but still, the finish line is never crossed.

Look back in time – The first DMK CM dies
C N Annadurai passed away of heart complications in 1969, after being the Chief Minister (CM) for two years. It was a crucial time in DMK politics – the Numero Duo (#2) in the party then was Prof. V K Neduncheziyan, but Muthuvel Karunanidhi pipped him to the top spot by delivering a speech in which every line ended with the word மூன்றெழுத்து (three letters). DMK is three letters, Anna (in Tamil) is three letters… you get the idea. No one knows if this speech was delivered extempore or carefully choreographed – it, along with the support of M G Ramachandran secured him the Chief Ministership. If this Modi government does not come back to power in 2019, they risk being dubbed the 95 percenters who failed to convert anything to 100%, because every effort of theirs in booking the high and mighty of corruption is ending at 95 percent.
Three things that propelled NDA to power in 2014
It was Brand Modi, Hindutva and Anti-Corruption that propelled this government to power in 2014. The mandate was decisive – the BJP alone got 282 seats – enough for it to go it alone. Modi is working hard, but is he working smart?
On Hindutva, the government has fallen short. It was expected that Modi would either abolish Right To Education (RTE) Act or make it compulsory for all religious educational institutions but he did neither and this is a sore sticking point for the populace. The majority community continues to bear the brunt of assaults and the perception is that Modi is ignoring his core supporters for the most part. As for going after the corrupt…
Why do the corrupt roam free?
In the first 90 days, he should have gone after all the corrupt VVIPs of the previous regime (as the 93-year old Mahathir Mohammed did in Malaysia) and put them behind bars. Most crimes committed were Black and White and yet the Modi government has prevaricated, building charge sheets but never arresting any of them. And most of the grunt work has been done by an individual Dr. Subramanian Swamy, not the government. He peeled the banana and gave it and instead of eating it, Modi and his reluctant cabinet have not shown the political will to throw the book at the offenders. Why this 95 percent closure?
Rahul Gandhi
When Dr. Swamy called a Press Conference in November 2015, to disclose the company filings in United Kingdom’s Company House about his company BackOps, in which as the Company Secretary Rahul Gandhi had signed that he was a British citizen, the whole country was stunned[1]! Dr. Swamy further filed a complaint with the Speaker of Lok Sabha on November 22, 2015, asking that Rahul be disqualified from the membership of Lok Sabha. This is a Black and White case! Why isn’t the Ethics Committee disbarring him?
P Chidambaram
When Chidambaram was caught with a classified Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) report meant for submission to the Supreme Court, all the CBI did was to institute an internal inquiry into how this happened[2]. But instead of giving the upstanding CBI Director a free rein to get to the bottom of the leak and punish the officers, Modi’s government did a wholesale transfer of several officers, many of whom were alleged to be investigating VVIP scams. Does this not violate the Official Secrets Act? Should PC not be taken into custodial interrogation and questioned as to how he came to be in possession of this top secret document? If the government was not serious about going after the corrupt, then why make a speech day-in and day-out, saying Na Khaunga Na Khane doonga? Now the Finance Ministry is dragging its feet on granting Sanction for Prosecution for 4 bureaucrats in the Aircel-Maxis scam for 100 days[3]. Even the corrupt UPA government gave sanction within 24 hours!
2G Scam
On February 2nd, 2012, the Supreme Court cancels all the 122 licenses given by the UPA government by the then Communications Minister, A Raja[4]. Furthermore, it appoints a 2G Special Court to go into the specific charges against each and every individual who was involved in this scam. The appointed judge, O P Saini, was first tasked to find out if Chidambaram needed to be charged as part of the scam, as alleged by Dr. Swamy. Two days later, on 4th, Saini dismissed Swamy’s petition on a flimsy condition that Swamy could not provide proof, though he (Saini) is convinced that Chidambaram and Raja jointly took the controversial decision!
5 years later, on December 21, 2017, Saini acquitted everyone, stating that the prosecution has failed to prove any charge against any of the accused, made in its well choreographed charge sheet. It is still a surprise as to how this trial court judge did not take into account the Supreme Court order on the cancellation of licenses and ignored the valid bank transfer of Rs.200 crores to Kanimozhi’s Kalaignar TV. Somehow, Judge Saini, who framed the charges against Raja and put him in prison for more than 20 months, all of sudden, in a bad judgment, says that he could not find any proof and that Raja’s decisions were in the “interests of a business” and not criminal in nature! Now the case is in the Delhi High Court but the delays continue to happen. This one must really hurt! After getting 99% right, the government stumbled at the final step.
In case the reader thinks that I am belaboring a point, it is not so. I merely see a pattern where the government looks like it is closing in, only to let it slip away. The cartoon that appeared in PGurus says it all –
Mr. Modi, if all these exercises are mere facades, please stop talking about corruption in your meetings. Reports from the hinterland describe voters’ dissatisfaction on not getting Rs.15 lakhs into their account, jhumla or not.

The strain of most of the comments say that people either want perfection or they will go back to the corrupt. I will not be surprised if most of these commentators will vote the rotten back to power, because they were dissatisfied with the imperfect Mr Modi, that’s if they go to vote. In today’s situation, every vote that is not cast for Modi whatever may be his imperfections, is only going to bring back the rotten corrupt forces who have been without their oxygen of power.
I am amused by the premise of this debate. What did Arya Chanakya write about corruption? Why does everyone believe that corruption can be rooted out?
This tussle is purely political. Those with the best and the appropriate tools will win. Those who can and do deceive themselves will be left behind.
We guessed that Modi would bring out a “white paper” on the state of Indian Economy!
Modi’s prerogative in making ministry itself proved that he does not like talent mixed experience in running and rectifying 65 years old Dynasty’s rotten and corrupt administrative systems. Today some educated illiterates, many planted TV debaters, semi-literates and uneducated now feel that all past mega scams and Rs.54 Lakhs Crores NPAs are of Modi Government making JUST IN FOUR YEARS. And those fugitives who ran away from India do have blessings of this “government too with a difference”! UPA1 &2 was not responsible!! Thanks to Media and Cong-I President and his brigade!

Even before the LS results were out in May 2014, it’s reported that SAD from Punjab issued a little statement in favor of Arun Jaitley demanding Finance portfolio and lo and behold he was made FM ! After successful Mission 272, we all thought NaMo would be our PM for the next 15 years marching forward with 282(2014) to 325 (2019) 400 (2024) into his third term as our PM! And this nation would become a majority ruled state while minorities will be looked after very well. He is now in-charge of 270 LS MPs TODAY……325…400 LS seats may be a pipe dream now.
It is evident that Modi government believes in “international ratings” on his government “performances and growths YoY” and goes into elections shortly. Majority of voters do not understand what this fiscal deficit, GDP, GNP is all about because common man looks at easing of rising fuel prices associated inflation, succumbs to freebies and farm loan waivers (offered by Cong-I to come back to power and after winning does not care voters but keeps them engaged with many 20:20 Cricket matches and communal tensions and rises prices to manage the Indian economy with mega scams again)!
Jaitely is loyal BJP party-man. After meeting financial obligations of Ambani, Adani et al, today what Jaitley is doing is to hit BJP core vote banks hard and hand over power to Cong-I. Hence, Modi has been doing business thru Jaitley and does not like Dr.Subramaniam Swamy at all. Jaitley and Chidambaram do not like Dr.SS! Jaitley do not bring votes into BJP’s kitty but Dr.S.Swamy brings 10% extra votes for his party! Really Jaitley, Ambai, Adhia bringing bad name to PMO and his party. In 2014 as a Mission 272 one of the participants, I regret over estimating Modi’s commitment on Corruption.
In fact we can guess BJP compromises on corruption hence Rahul was caught in US with too much foreign currency in his pocket and was released due to Vajpayee government intervention, Bofors was given a neat burial and UPAs mega scams progressed under Dr.S.Swamy, Modi failed to capitalize on it. But it goes to BJP’s credit that only Gali J Reddy and BS Yediurappa were corrupt in the country apart from Laloo!! And Cong-I is as pure as a snow!

Really feel sorry for Dr. Subramanian Swamy [who said on Nov. 8th “I Will Teach Chidambaram What Real “Hindu Terror” is”]. and Sree iyer wrote a detailed book on the C-Company. However, they are Lone wolves out to hunt the foxy PC but helpless as they are since the ruling BJP caucus is not the part of the big pack ready to hunt down the corrupt and foxy PC and the C-Company Clan. Is it Arun Jaitley and Co in the Finance Ministry or the PM Modi and members from his PMO that are stalling and weakening the rapid action plan put forth by Dr. S. Swamy and Dr. Sree Iyer? Both Arnab Goswami and S. Gurumurthy seem to be totally biased and not objective to challenge the weaklings in the BJP Executive responsible for the inaction.
Mr. Atal B. Vajpayee did not go a full swing to Clear and give a verdict in the Bofors Scam. Modi and the PMO have not done much to jail the corrupt top UPA members. P. Chidambaram, Rahul, Sonia, Vadra, Ahmed Patel, Karti Chidambaram continue to remain outside, roam freely. But the pity is they maim, ridicule, taunt and make fun of the current BJP Netas and get away with them SCOT free. Who is responsible for the meek and weak stature of the BJP? Is it Arun Jaitley or the Corporate honchos, the Amabnsi and Adhani as underwriters of Modi’s campaign Financing put a hold on him to go slow with the agenda of dragging to court their past protectors. Game continues and Indians are duped and conned.
All you guys should figure it out. There are the 2002 skeletons in Modi’s cupboard. He is not acting because he is scared that these skeletons will tumble out.
While there is no tangible alternative, it is sad India/Modi/BJP-RSS combined failed to address the core issue of weeding out corruption at the Top. The current Govt./ BJP administration has failed MISERABLY to arrest/interrogate P. Chidambaram and Karti Chidambaram despite all evidence to arrest and put him behind bars have been overwhelming.. Sree Iyer should write an e-book entitled: The Miserably Failed, Bungled A-COMPANY of BJP: “Asthana, Amit Shah, Ambanis, Adhani and Arun Jaitley”. Yes, Modi’s team has deliberately let down the poor and middle class Indians. Corrupt Chidambaram Chettiar Continues to maitain full Control of the A-Company and all the Top Bureaucrats in the CBI, ED, SEBI, IT-Dept. as well as key members of the Finance Ministry including its top boss AJ. AJ is working for and taking orders from PC. Modi makes Jumla both abroad and within India but has not moved his little finger to address CORRUPTION issue, the key poll promise he made in 2014. Sad to see the efforts of Dr. Subramanian Swamy annulled by Baniya Modi and the Delhi Lutyens Club Mafia Lawyer Arun Jaitley. The BJP’s A-Company is ditto of the C-Company of UPA, the replic and other side of the same coin.

It appears that India has been hijacked by the politicians, who lead the Indian cartel at the Apex of the pyramid. The rest of them who make up the cartel include the judiciary, bureaucrats and the party supporters who are all fed from the corruption of the system depriving the many for the benefit of a few. Saini made it appear that the SC erred in cancelling 122 licences for 2-G spectrum without sufficient cause and it may even happen in India that another bench of SC, suo moto, recall their own order cancelling 2G spectrum sale by granting 122 licences and may even award financial compensation to the spectrum bidders. Even the Government appeal in High Court was only due to public outcry, otherwise they would not have preferred an appeal in Del HC. The same drama by Prosecution will be repeated in Del HC and the Del HC will only confirm the 2-G Spl Court findings. Tragedy of India is, men of competence and unimpeachable integrity are NOT getting the rightful positions in the Government, even if they get by chance, destiny is not allowing them to continue for long. Take Gulzarilal Nanda, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Morarjibhai Desai, Chandrasekar,

It’s bureaucracy and judiciary which executes decisions and is full of corrupt officers , its not easy to get corrupt punished in this country
