Narendra Modi has often been criticized

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has often been criticized by the media and the general public on many fronts. A close look at Modi’s performance will definitely refute these negative criticisms. Let’s have a look at it and the many negative criticisms in that context:

Modi was accused of the genocide of Muslims in Gujarat. First, he was accused of masterminding it. Then he was accused of asking police to look the other way. However, none of these accusations have been ever proved or even substantiated. As Gujarat CM, Modi was denied a US Visa under a provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act. The ban was automatically lifted when he became Prime Minister and since has received a rock-star welcome there.

The two acts are very beneficial for the persecuted minorities and the small and medium farmers respectively.

Volumes have been written on the two drastic reform measures undertaken by Modi namely the Demonetization and the GST. While no conclusion has been reached, these reforms have definitely set an honest norm in a transaction, financing, and a much more efficient system of tax administration leading to added revenue.

Our country is certainly passing through a grave crisis due to Coronavirus. Our intellectuals do not seem to be aware of any solution nor capable of giving any constructive suggestions. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment and solidarity in fighting against the Coronavirus pandemic that has so far infected millions of people in the world have been praised by World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Yet Modi is accused of mishandling the issue.

The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 was passed by the Parliament of India on 11 December 2019 [1]. It amended the Citizenship Act, 1955 by providing a path to Indian citizenship for migrants of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, and Christian religious minorities, who had fled persecution from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan before December 2014 [2][3] [4] [5] [6][7] [8] [9] [10] [11]. An irresponsible Opposition aided by the same section of media tried to raise communal passion on this just measure to redeem past commitments.

Continuing the reform agenda, the Modi government has now passed in Parliament three bills to promote much easier trade for the farm produce and to provide a competitive market for the producers outside the existing Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) system. These provide no more APMC monopoly, more choice, freedom for farmers to seek better prices for crops.

Modi is often accused of spoiling the independence of the constitutionally set up institutions by interfering in their affairs. This allegation again could not be substantiated.

The two acts are very beneficial for the persecuted minorities and the small and medium farmers respectively. Yet the opposition and a section of media are agitating against their implementation.

The country is facing unprovoked and premeditated aggressive postures of China and Pakistan. But these critics are deafeningly silent. They are even savouring the lies and blatantly seditious uttering of some opposition leaders like Farooq Abdullah abundantly highlighted by a section of mainstream media.

Atrocities against women, communal clashes, misdemeanours in public conduct, and misappropriation of public funds are occurring in certain parts of our polity. But these critics are blatantly selective in their reaction.

There were a lot of protests against holding this year’s NEET and Final Year Degree exams. But the Ministry and UGC were firm and the exams were mostly conducted properly.

Thus, in these criticisms, there is this blatant intellectual dishonesty in a lot of otherwise learned and educated people. They also seem to be oblivious of the fundamental adage:

Charity Begins at home/ preach only what you practice. Also, criticism must not be agenda-driven but surely constructive. Sadly, this is totally lacking here.

But what about dissent and democracy? Angry activists and public intellectuals have multiple eager media platforms like The Wire, NDTV, The Hindu, etc, to vent their ire and eulogizing Pakistan-funded terrorists like Burhan Wani, being apologists for China and undermining India at international conclaves. Yet, none of these media organizations has been censored by the government – even though many deals in fake news. Contrast this with what is happening in Maharashtra.

Finally, the biased and partisan attitude of these critics is further evident from the following ridiculous allegations:

  • Modi wore a shawl: Somebody dreamed up that it was a Louis Vuitton one – a manufactured controversy was served steaming hot!
  • Rs 20 lakh suit: Another cooked up figure over the price of the suit Modi was wearing.
  • Christian church attacks: Delhi Police announced that 250+temples was attacked and 4 churches. Then a church was attacked in Mamata Banerjee’s West Bengal. This was enough for Christianity to be under attack in Modi’s India.
  • Award Wapsi: Again, law and order broke down in Akhilesh Yadav’s Uttar Pradesh and Dadri was the low point. But Modi was invoked and a bizarre ceremony of returning awards plagued our so-called “intellectuals” and writers.

  1. I’m a supporter of Modi and I agree with the views with regard to opposition and biased media against him.
    Not only that this, there seems to be an agenda for these biased media and LeLis (Left Liberals). They’ll only criticise followers of Sanatan Dharm and won’t say anything against other faiths – especially Islam and Christianity.

    But I have a few issues with Modi Sircar.
    1. They don’t counter these campaigns properly. For example in case of CAA, they (Media & LeLis – M &LL) keep complaining of bias against the Muslims. First of all the whole issue of CAA was mooted (not now but right from the days of Nehru) due to persecution of minorities, so CAA passed to support the minorities in these countries. The irony is a country like Pakistan was formed as an Islamic country as they felt Muslims do not get justice in undivided India, but now they are persecuted even in a country farmed to protect the interest of Muslims. The Govt of that country should be ashamed that the Muslims are being persecuted and they want India to give them shelter. They (M&LL) should be asked why they don’t question the shameless Pakistan govt for not doing anything to protect the Muslims.
    This is an organised campaign & see the reactions of the Lady (Sonia) and someone like Harsh Mander (agent of George Soros in India).
    2. Mr Modi started with the slogan “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance” – but has it been achieved. Why still Govt control on so many PSUs – is it the job of the Govt to run Hotels and Airlines? The disinvestment has been extremely tardy.
    3. His campaign against Black money – Demonitisation is good but why still PNs (Participatroy Notes) are not banned? Is it not a major source of money laundering especially by the corrupt Politicians.
    and what about electoral bonds?
    4. ON many instances they (BJP) behave just like Congress – Karnataka, MP etc. using money power to lure MLAs.
    5. Most important what happened to so many scams during UPA decade – 2G, Coal, CWG and so many others. Modi sircar doesn’t seem serious about these cases – I’m sure the corrupt UPA gang will use this in 2024 to campaign that they were innocent but deliberately maligned by vested interests to remove them from power.

  2. Congress, leftists and all others who hate the rise of sanathan dharam and its heritage in India are angry because all their efforts to finish off ModiG i many ways have failed. Peace loving Gandhi admiring Gujaratis got so angry and took revenge against the extremist Muslims in such a way ,that History got written, No communal riots in Gujarat since 2002. No one is demanding Jagannath rath yatra to get out of streets where Muslims reside any more. India’s image as a super power and as a largest democracy has influenced the world so much that India is known as a nation with 82% Hindu population. Under congress and Communist influences India was shown as a Christian country and more as a Islamic country through propaganda of Bollywood Mafia. Thanks for getting back Ram Janam Bhhomi and making one billion Hindus happy, India that is Hindustan is in a position to be the leading power to represent Hindus Buddhists Sikhs and jains. Now we must get autonomy for our temples and bring uniform civil code asap. we must ban polygamy and sharia laws and courts. we must also stop Haz subsidy. once we start inviting lakhs of tourist s from Asia and Europe and make them tour all our holy places, the world will start looking at the past and learn about 10 thousand year old civilization.

    • The tourism thing is essential. I stopped by the tourist office in Delhi and all their recommendations were for invaders worship. At number 15 was akshardam.
      Humayun’s tomb was number 6.

      Same story in Hyderabad. They are pushing nizam museums by AP state museum is no where to be found in the recommendation.
