Bad Optics on part of the MD of Times of India

[dropcap color=”#008040″ boxed=”yes” boxed_radius=”8px” class=”” id=””]I[/dropcap]s Time of India’s Managing Director Vineet Jain going insane? The newspaper’s Delhi office is closed after a huge fire which lasted for 28 hours. The fire started on February 26, Sunday evening and ended by the next evening, late in the night, after the hard work of 20 fire engine brigades. Vineet Jain who tweets about everything under the sun uttered nothing on this matter. But shockingly he Tweeted his photo enjoying skiing in Gulmarg on March 2. How can a sane person do this when his main office was closed down after a huge fire four days ago?

An investigation is needed as to how these things happen and what went wrong, as there are more than a 1000 people working at this office. Was there any sabotage?

And he also tweeted on March 4 about his Power Boat ride in Mumbai.

Now it emerges that all reporters have been asked to file stories from home and Desk and other staffers were shifted to other offices in Noida and Gurgaon. Nobody knows when the Delhi head office of Times of India in Press Area in Income Tax Office (ITO) is going to open. Some say the management is thinking of demolishing the building and planning to construct a new multi-storied building. This is going to be a three year long affair.

Fire broke out in this building in May 2015 too. In Mumbai VT building also fire broke out in August 2016. Do their buildings catch fire because their news is hot? Are Times of India buildings lacking in mandatory fire safety norms? Luckily there were no human casualties. Are the owners (Sameer and Vineet Jain) not worried because Times of India has ample insurance coverage?

What is astonishing is how long the fire burned (around 28 hours). An investigation is needed as to how these things happen and what went wrong, as there are more than a 1000 people working at this office. Was there any sabotage? These sort of questions should have crossed Vineet Jain’s mind. But he seems unconcerned, skiing in Kashmir and riding speed boats in Mumbai, when ghastly fire gutted his building.

Vineet Jain some time Tweets on responsibility and accountability from Government. But the skiing and boat riding photos cast doubts on whether he puts his money where his mouth is. As owners of the Organization, it behoves the owners (Jains) to be on the spot or at least in the city to manage the affairs of rehabilitation, rather than leaving the work to Government agencies like Fire Force and Police.

Tweets such as those shown below, gives one the impression that Vineet could be doing a Nero V2. As one of the most respected newspapers, you owe it to your readers to show that you care.

  1. Many of those who are young (<40)convent educated middle / upper class english speaking idiots are the one who read TOILET paper. This paper is the perfect example of why privileged Indians have remained idiots inspite of education because they cannot differentiate mediocrity/skulduggery from the honest and true.privileged Indians deserve scamsters and cut outs / fakes .Poor as well as honest Indians who are the majority deserve better.Life goes on.This land has seen it all.

  2. I disagree with just one part of the above report ” as one of the most respected newspapers “, the word “respected”. They lost the respect, long time back. And this also applies to majority of the MSM in our country. The social networking sites ( like twitter , facebook etc. ) enabled people like me, to better understand the true colours of these MSM / MSM-journalists.
