Understanding Shaheen Bagh

Published by

The methodology the votaries of Shaheen Bagh have adopted to put across their point of view or force the Modi Government to withdraw the CAA and abandon the ideas of the NPR and the NRC is also a matter of grave concern.

It’s absolutely clear. The over 75-day-long anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests at Shaheen Bagh in Delhi are a part of a deep-rooted conspiracy hatched to destabilize the Narendra Modi Government, weaken India and tarnish her image in the eyes of the international community. There should be no doubt about it. It is also clear that many hostile nations like Pakistan, Turkey, and Malaysia; the opposition parties, including the Congress, the TMC, the APP, the CPI, the CPI-M, the SP, the BSP, the RJD, the DMK, to mention only a few; international media, a section of Lutyens media, Muslim clergy and Muslim political class; bodies such as Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC); such educational institutions as Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Jamia Millia Islamia, Dar-ul-Uloom (Deoband); and a section of legal fraternity are backing to the hilt the Shaheen Bagh. They are not just backing. They are also not leaving any stone unturned to provoke communal explosions wherever possible.

The abolition of the medieval Triple Talaq and the apex court’s verdict in favour of Lord Ram mandir have all not gone down well with the Muslim political class and Muslim clergy and their supporters in the Indian political class, a section of media and countries like Pakistan.

The Congress even went to the extent of telling the Muslims on December 14 that “it’s an Aar Paar Ki Ladai”, that “they must come out in large numbers and hold protests” and that “the Congress is behind them”. Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi openly instigated Muslims that day. The fact of the matter is that the irresponsible Opposition, irresponsible Lutyens media and the Muslim leadership, both religious and political, have left nobody in any doubt that they are after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and that they want the BJP Government at the Centre to go, saying “they are subverting the secular polity”. The upshot of their whole argument has been that “Narendra Modi Government has been seeking to convert India into Hindu Rashtra where the plight of the Muslims will be miserable”.

The Shaheen Bagh protests and protests in other parts of the country are not just against CAA, National Register of Population (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC). These are not just against the persecuted non-Muslim minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. These are also not just in support of a regime that grants Indian citizenship to Muslims from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. These are also not just in support of the crores of illegal Bangladeshi, Pakistani and Rohingya immigrants. But these are also against the historic decisions the Narendra Modi Government took and against the Supreme Court’s Ram Mandir Verdict.

To be more precise, the decisions of the Narendra Modi Government to abolish Article 370 and Article 35A and break Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, the abolition of the medieval Triple Talaq and the apex court’s verdict in favour of Lord Ram mandir have all not gone down well with the Muslim political class and Muslim clergy and their supporters in the Indian political class, a section of media and countries like Pakistan. They have all described these decisions as an attack on secularism, on the Muslims and what they also call “the idea of India”. Only the other day, one right-hand man of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi and former bureaucrat, Harsh Mander, urged the Shaheen Bagh protesters, mostly women and children, and others to come on the roads, saying that the Parliament and the Supreme Court had outlived their utility or the Parliament and the Supreme Court will not deliver justice to them; and that the things will now be decided on the roads, and not on the floor of the Parliament or by the Supreme Court. He without mincing words dismissed the Parliament and the Supreme Court as biased and communal institutions. As for radical Muslim leaders like Asaduddin Owaisi, they, like their supporters, have been telling their co-religionists that the real aim of the Narendra Modi Government is to deport 8 crore Muslims from India and that the CAA, the NPR and the NRC “are rabidly anti-Muslim”—all mischievous propaganda. The truth is that the speeches delivered by the critics of the CAA, the NPR and the NRC at JNU, JMI, AMU, Shaheen Bagh and other places in Delhi, Hyderabad, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and so on, have established that there are forces who are all out to break India into pieces and force down the nation’s throat their pernicious ideology – an ideology that created Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir – an ideology that culminated in the gruesome killings of millions, abductions, forcible conversions, forcible marriages, displacement of population and destruction on an unprecedented scale.

The Congress and similar other secular and half-secular outfits, the Muslim leaderships across the country and the vested interests in the national and international media and such international bodies as the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) have been continuing to spread all the lies, despite the assurances and reassurances given by the Prime Minister and the Home Minister that the CAA is aimed at granting citizenship, and not snatching citizenship from any Indian national. All of them have chosen to ignore the official assurances and reassurances should clinch the whole issue and establish that the aim of the critics of the CAA, the NPR and the NRC (which is nowhere in sight) is not really pious and that they are playing with the national unity and undermining Indian sovereignty to promote their vote-bank politics and grind their personal axes.

The worst part of the whole situation was that these peaceful women in their thousands attacked police personnel, including Deputy Police Commissioner and Assistant Police Commissioner with stones, lathis, iron rods and whatnot in North East Delhi’s Gokulpuri.

If all what the critics or the adversaries of the PM and the HM have been saying is a matter of grave concern for the nation, the methodology the votaries of Shaheen Bagh have adopted to put across their point of view or force the Modi Government to withdraw the CAA and abandon the ideas of the NPR and the NRC is also a matter of grave concern. They have been saying and claiming that their protests are peaceful. Only a fool will endorse them. The fact of the matter is that their protests are violent and the dreaded terror outfits, including the ISIS-backed, funded and indoctrinated Popular Front of India (PFI), are involved in this violent struggle. What they did in Delhi on February 23, 24 and 25 have exposed those who claimed day-in and day-out that their protests were, and are, peaceful. Indeed, they replicated Kashmir in Delhi on those three black days. The worst part of the whole situation was that these peaceful women in their thousands attacked police personnel, including Deputy Police Commissioner and Assistant Police Commissioner with stones, lathis, iron rods and whatnot in North East Delhi’s Gokulpuri.

All in all, it can be said that the Shaheen Bagh protest and Shaheen Bagh-like protests in different parts of India have posed a live threat to India. PM Modi and HM Shah would do well to adopt a policy that bars the hostile elements from doing Shaheen Bagh and replicating it. This is a must. There is no other alternative available to protect and promote national sovereignty and deport illegal aliens whosoever they are and wherever they are.

  • This is the correct picture of the situation. The only way to cope up with it is as suggested in this write up.

  • The CAB bill was ammended to give citizenship to the persecuted people from our neighbouring islamic countries. who are living in India as refugees for more than 10 years. The said bill introduced in our parliament and enacted as an act after discussion with majority support and after the acceptance of Indian President . The subsequent protest and violence by the Muslims community is against the sovereign Government is crime and punishable under the law. Hope the supreme court of India will ensure the law and punish the guilty.
