Mastermind of inter paper leak arrested with the aide

The Uttar Pradesh Police has successfully solved the Uttar Pradesh state board class 12 English paper leak case with the arrest on Sunday of the mastermind of the scam.

With their arrest, the total number of people held in connection with the exam paper leak on Wednesday climbed to 46. Following the leak, the exam was cancelled in 24 districts of the state including Ballia.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Rasda Police station of Ballia, Rajeev Singh said, “The mastermind of the paper leak case Nirbhay Narayan Singh, who is the manager of a private Inter College, has been arrested along with one Rajeev Prajapati and seven others.”

Three other suspects have been arrested by the Sikandarpur Police of the district including a teacher of a government primary school.

Singh sold the solved paper for Rs.25,000-30,000 each, police said. Singh also shared the solved copy with other people using popular messaging applications for money.

“The leaked question paper was sent to an English teacher by Prajapati. The English teacher solved the paper and handed it to Nirbhay Narayan Singh. The findings have been corroborated using digital forensics of Nirbhay Narayan’s phone and his bank transactions,” police said.

Prajapati, along with the teacher who solved the paper, had been arrested earlier. So far 46 people have been arrested in connection with the case, including three journalists and the Ballia District Inspector of Schools.

The cancelled exam will now be held on April 13.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had directed the Special Task Force of the Uttar Pradesh Police to investigate the matter. He had also asked officials to slap the National Security Act (NSA) on those found involved in the matter.
