Pokhran (Jaisalmer district), a remote location in the Thar Desert that brought the nuclear security and laurels to the country is now witnessing forced demographic changes leading to the danger of losing the national security to various foreign as well as our own radicalized elements. The latest reports from the BSF (Border Security Forces)[1] to the Home Ministry shows the concern of increasing radicalized Muslim population in the district of Jaisalmer.

Any doubtful or suspicious elected official can’t be trusted for a sensitive location like Pokhran –  due to proximity with Pakistan and the secrets it may hold of India’s nuclear program.

To understand the gravity of the situation, let us look at another similar situation that arose on the Eastern border with Bangladesh. There was a steady Muslim population increase in the border areas of West Bengal, led by the preaching of the influential Muslim clergies which resulted in mass illegal infiltration along with smuggling of drugs and arms.

Concerns regarding national interest and security also get increased when Saleh Mohammad, whose father Gazi Fakir[2] is a controversial radical clergy charged with a number of Smuggling/anti-National cases, is contesting election from Pokhran. Saleh himself was involved in multiple cases including threatening of police officers and government officials.

According to Economic Times[3], Saleh Mohammad is banking heavily on his father Ghazi Fakeer’s influence over Sindhi Muslims who dominate this region. Being their religious leader, Fakeer wields great control over his community on either side of the border. He also has several criminal cases against him[4]. Hence many people share the concern that it might be possible, that Pakistan could use him as a pawn to compromise India’s national security. Any doubtful or suspicious elected official can’t be trusted for a sensitive location like Pokhran –  due to proximity with Pakistan and the secrets it may hold of India’s nuclear program.

Time to save this strategic location from being encroached by the Trojan horses by electing a clean, honest and nationalist Swami Pratap Puri[5] who has spent most of his life serving the society.  Time for all the nationalist forces to come together and support Swami Pratap Puri.

  1. Please note NIA, Right up to Barker and border areas, there is a huge influx of Bangladeshi and Muslim Gujjars are helping in smuggling of Narcotics from across the border, fence or no fence. I have seen myself during my tours. Catch landlords, hotels and restaurants and you can see the influx. God save our Bharat.
