Caution: You could get hurt from laughing!

Published by

Humor from the well of Prof. R Vaidyanathan (Prof RV) never runs dry. With just 140 characters, he was awesome; but now, with 280, he has become unstoppable!

Sita’s husband

The year for 1986. I was a Graduate Student and one of the lucky ones to have an assistantship. I even had an office that I shared with another Grad student, who was into Crossword puzzles. He was struggling over a 4-letter word, whose clue was Who was the wife of Ramachandra? I gave the answer and was surprised that deep in America, there were crossword compilers creating clues about Indian heroes and more so, expecting the readers to decipher it.

When I read the following tweet, I was ROFL (Rolling on the floor laughing) –

After picking myself up from the floor, it dawned on me that the good Professor had also added clues in the tweet that could be construed in more ways than one:

  1. An anagram of NITA is TINA (There Is No Alternative). Is he suggesting that there is no alternative to this husband of Nita? Or
  2. Is he suggesting that an anagram using the same four letters exists which gives a clue to another husband who too seems to be amazingly placed at the right place at the right time, making the right deals?

Kill two birds with one stone

A minister in the Tamil Nadu government drew parallels between his Chief Minister/ Deputy Chief Minister and Fidel Castro/ Che Guevara. Whether it was intentional or not, the minister’s tweet may have damaged his bosses more than helped him –

Future predictions (they usually come true!)

After the Supreme Court set aside the law that made adultery illegal, Prof. RV had this to say –

Tunnel at the end of every light

Another priceless gem –

Going to London

The cartoon explains it all. It was inspired by this classic of Prof RV –

Sitaram Kesri’s London Experience!

Like I said, the well of humor of Prof RV never dries up! Thanks to @akshaychanders for the cartoons.
