Varanasi will go to polls in the seventh and last phase of the elections on June 1

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today file his nomination from Varanasi for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

A day before filing his papers, PM Modi held a 6-km-long roadshow, promising to do a lot more for the overall development of the city if voted to power again.

Twelve chief ministers from BJP-ruled states are expected to be present when Prime Minister Narendra Modi files his nomination for a third consecutive term from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday, said a BJP leader.

Besides, several Union Ministers, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah, and Presidents of various NDA allies are also likely to be present there on the occasion.

Those likely to be present at the nomination include Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav, his Chhattisgarh counterpart Vishnu Deo Sai and Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, his Goa counterpart Pramod Sawant, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and his Tripura counterpart Manik Saha will also be there, they added.

Taking to his social media handle on X, PM Modi wrote, “I am overwhelmed and emotional! I did not even realise how 10 years passed under the shade of your affection. I had said that Maa Ganga had called me. Aaj Maa Ganga ne mujhe god le liya hai (today Maa Ganga has adopted me).”

PM Modi will begin his day with a spiritual journey with a visit to Assi Ghat, where he will offer prayers to the River Ganga. The itinerary will then continue with a visit to the Kaal Bhairav Temple at 10 followed by the filing of nomination papers at 11:30 am.

The Prime Minister will then speak at the Rudraksha Convention Center at 12:10 p before leaving Varanasi at 1 pm.

Varanasi will go to polls in the seventh and last phase of the elections on June 1.
