Nearly 14 lakh SIR enumeration forms have been classified as “uncollectable” in West Bengal, the Election Commission said on Tuesday.

According to officials, these forms were marked uncollectable because the voters were found to be absentee, duplicate, deceased or permanently shifted. The number, which stood at 10.33 lakh on Monday, rose to 13.92 lakh by Tuesday noon and is expected to increase further as updates continue to come in.

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been actively distributing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) forms and collecting household data across the state. More than 80,600 BLOs, supported by around 8,000 supervisors, 3,000 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and 294 Electoral Registration Officers, are involved in the revision exercise.

Officials also confirmed that three BLOs have died in the state during the ongoing SIR process.
