CIK conducts coordinated raids across three Kashmir districts in terror funding investigation
In a coordinated counter-terror operation, the Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing of the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted simultaneous pre-dawn raids across Srinagar, Ganderbal and Anantnag districts on Saturday as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged terror funding network and other unlawful activities.
Acting on intelligence inputs, CIK teams searched multiple premises linked to individuals under investigation and seized several digital devices for forensic examination.
One CIK team raided the residence of Riyaz Ahmad at Hokarsar, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Shalteng in Srinagar. Officials said Ahmad, originally from Dalal Mohalla in Maharaj Gunj, has been residing in Hokarsar for the past 16 years. Family members were questioned during the search.
Simultaneously, another CIK team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Nisar Ahmad searched the residence of Syed Qalandar Shah at Chountwaliwar in the Lar area of Ganderbal district. Apart from conducting searches at the premises, investigators also examined bank-related documents as part of the probe.
A third search operation was carried out at the residence of Gulzar Ahmad Rather in Nowgam, Verinag, in Anantnag district. Officials identified Rather as an Imam who has been associated with the local Phali Masjid since 2012.
During the coordinated operations, investigators recovered multiple digital devices, which have been seized for further examination.
According to officials, the searches were conducted in connection with FIR No. 07/2023 registered at Police Station JIC CIK Srinagar under Sections 153 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), along with Sections 13, 18-B and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The investigation is aimed at uncovering alleged terror funding channels and identifying individuals suspected of involvement in activities linked to unlawful organisations. Officials said further investigation is underway.
