An emotional appeal from Ketan Agarwal’s mother has brought renewed attention to the Pune murder case and the family’s demand for a speedy trial
In an emotional appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rakhi Agarwal, the mother of murdered Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal, has sought swift justice for her son, urging that his case should not fade into “just another case file.”
Writing to the Prime Minister nearly a month after the alleged murder, Rakhi Agarwal said she was not seeking sympathy or special treatment but only the strictest punishment for those accused of taking her son’s life. She urged that the investigation and trial be fast-tracked so justice is delivered without unnecessary delay.
“I never imagined I would have to write to you seeking justice for my own son,” she wrote, recalling how she had dreamed of watching Ketan get married, build a family and grow old with his parents. Instead, she said, she was forced to perform his last rites.
Describing the emotional toll on the family, Rakhi Agarwal said every corner of their home reminds them of Ketan. She also revealed that the family suffered another devastating loss when Ketan’s grandfather died just 20 days after the murder, unable to cope with the grief of losing his grandson.
Ketan Agarwal allegedly died after being pushed off a cliff at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18. Police have arrested his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged partner, Chetan Chaudhary, accusing them of conspiring to murder him. Investigators claim the killing was premeditated, and the probe into the case is continuing.
In her appeal, Rakhi Agarwal said that while her son could never be brought back, justice for him should not be delayed. She urged the Prime Minister to ensure the case receives the attention it deserves so that those responsible are punished in accordance with the law.
The letter comes days after Ketan’s father also wrote to the President of India, seeking a fast-track investigation and trial, underscoring the family’s determination to pursue justice through every possible avenue.
