Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described the prevention of examination paper leaks as a “national responsibility“, saying the integrity of competitive examinations cannot be compromised and those responsible must face the strictest possible punishment. His remarks come as the NEET paper leak controversy continues to dominate political and public discourse.
Addressing members of the NDA Parliamentary Party, the Prime Minister stressed that the issue transcends political divisions and directly impacts the aspirations of millions of young Indians. He urged all political parties to treat the matter with seriousness and avoid turning it into a partisan battle.
According to Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who briefed reporters after the meeting, PM Modi directed that those involved in examination fraud should face the strictest legal consequences. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening systems to prevent future leaks and restore public confidence in the examination process.
The government has maintained that multiple agencies are investigating the case and that action has already been initiated against those allegedly involved. Officials have also indicated that further reforms to examination security are under consideration to strengthen transparency and accountability.
The NEET controversy has emerged as one of the biggest challenges facing India’s examination system, with renewed demands for tighter safeguards to ensure that merit alone determines the future of lakhs of students. While the political debate continues, the Prime Minister has underlined that protecting the credibility of national examinations is a responsibility that must be shared across institutions and political lines.
