Strong iPhone shipments help India achieve record smartphone exports in the first quarter of FY27
India’s smartphone exports climbed to a record $9.84 billion during the first quarter of FY27, marking a 23.4 per cent year-on-year increase, with Apple’s iPhone production emerging as the biggest growth driver.
According to the latest official data, smartphone exports rose from $7.97 billion in the April-June quarter of the previous financial year to $9.84 billion during the same period this year.
The United States continued to be the largest destination for smartphones manufactured in India, underlining the country’s growing importance in global electronics supply chains.
Smartphones dominate electronics exports
The strong performance also lifted India’s overall electronics exports, with smartphones contributing 64.8 per cent of the country’s total electronics exports worth $15.2 billion during the April-June quarter.
The latest figures build on the momentum witnessed over the past few years as India strengthens its position as a global smartphone manufacturing hub.
Industry estimates show that shipments of Made-in-India smartphones grew 8 per cent in 2025, driven largely by a 28 per cent surge in exports. Nearly one in every three smartphones manufactured in India is now exported.

Apple leads the export boom
Apple’s contract manufacturers have continued to drive the country’s export growth.
Foxconn Hon Hai, Apple’s largest manufacturing partner in India, registered a 48 per cent year-on-year increase in exports in 2025, supported by robust demand for iPhones.
Samsung also expanded its overseas shipments, recording 4 per cent export growth during the period.
Earlier this year, India’s iPhone exports crossed a record ₹2 lakh crore in FY26, making Apple the country’s largest branded exporter across all product categories.
Overall smartphone exports from India reached approximately ₹2.6 trillion ($29.4 billion) during FY26, with iPhones accounting for more than 75 per cent of the total, or roughly $22 billion.
Government initiatives fuel manufacturing growth
The rapid expansion of India’s electronics manufacturing sector has been supported by the government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, reforms in Special Economic Zones (SEZs), increased budgetary support for electronics manufacturing and recent Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) reforms aimed at attracting global manufacturers.
The sustained growth reinforces India’s emergence as one of the world’s fastest-growing electronics manufacturing and export hubs.
