New AI features target learning, coursework and competitive exam preparation
Google has introduced a new set of AI-powered learning tools aimed at helping students prepare for exams, organise coursework and conduct research. The company is also offering eligible college students in India one year of Google AI Plus at no cost.
The new features are being introduced across Google’s AI products, including Gemini and Google Search, as the company expands its focus on education and student learning.
Free Google AI Plus for eligible students
Eligible college students in India can claim one year of Google AI Plus free of charge. The plan includes access to Gemini Omni, twice the standard Gemini usage limits and 400 GB of cloud storage.
Students will need to complete Google’s student eligibility verification process to activate the offer. The free student plan is available to eligible college students aged 18 and above, according to Google’s student programme details.
New AI tools focus on personalised learning
Google has also introduced a dedicated student hub in Gemini, bringing several study features together in one place. Students can use the hub to organise coursework, create flashcards, take practice quizzes and manage their academic work.
Another feature, Study Notebooks, allows students to upload their own learning material and use Gemini to create personalised study plans and lessons. The tool can also generate quizzes to help students identify areas where they need more practice.
Google is additionally introducing interactive visualisations that can help explain complex subjects through 3D simulations, tables and other visual models.
JEE and NEET aspirants to benefit
The new AI-powered tools also include support for competitive exam preparation. Students can create customised practice quizzes for exams including JEE and NEET, alongside other standardised tests. Google is working with education companies including Careers360 and PhysicsWallah to provide test-preparation content.
The tools are designed to allow students to practise specific subjects and topics and receive a more personalised learning experience.
Gemini expands research capabilities
Google is also adding Deep Research capabilities to Gemini Live. Students can begin a research task through a conversation, allow Gemini to prepare a detailed report and then return to discuss the findings and ask follow-up questions.
With the latest additions, Google is positioning Gemini as a broader study assistant that can help students with coursework, research and exam preparation rather than simply answering individual questions.
