
Two army jawans, two porters martyred
A group of heavily armed Pakistani terrorists Thursday ambushed an army vehicle near Nagin post in the Butapathri sector of Baramulla district in which six soldiers including two army porters received injuries. According to reports, two army jawans and two porters succumbed to their fatal injuries but there was no official confirmation till the time of filing the report.
This is the second incident of terrorist violence during the day in Kashmir. A 19-year-old migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh was shot in the Batagund area of Tral in South Kashmir.
The attack came barely hours after Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting in Srinagar to strategize on counter-terrorism measures.
The meeting was attended by the top brass of the central intelligence agencies, DGP, J&K police, Army officers of Northern Command, top brass of the BSF, CRPF, and other paramilitary forces part of the security grid in J&K.
In Baramulla, the security forces moved in swiftly to launch a massive combing and search operation in the area to pin down the terrorists. Additional reinforcements have been rushed in to plug the gaps to prevent the escape of foreign terrorists.
Srinagar-based Chinar Corps in a statement said, “A brief firefight took place between the Indian Army and terrorists in general area Butapathri, Baramulla. Details are being ascertained“.

Baramulla Police in a post on X said, “An exchange of fire took place between forces and terrorists in the Butapathri sector of District Baramulla around Nagin post. Further details will be shared after verifying the facts”.
According to police, The teenager, Shubam Kumar,19, from Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor, suffered bullet injuries in his hand after terrorists shot at him in Batagund village in Tral. He has been admitted to the hospital and is stable.
Seven people, including one doctor and six other employees of the construction company, were killed on October 20, after terrorists opened fire at a construction site in the Sonamarg area in the Ganderbal district.
On October 18, terrorists killed Ashok Chauhan, a migrant worker from Bihar, in Shopian district. Chauhan’s bullet-riddled body was found in the Waduna area of Zainapora by the locals.
