Baba Siddique murder case: The ossification test was ordered by the court
In a significant development in the murder case of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique, Mumbai Police confirmed that accused Dharmaraj Kashyap is not a minor, following an ossification test. The 66-year-old politician was shot dead on Saturday night outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra, Mumbai.
The ossification test, ordered by the court, was conducted after Kashyap’s lawyer claimed he was a minor. However, the test results disproved this assertion, confirming his age to be above 18.
Following the test, Kashyap was remanded to police custody until October 21.
Alongside Kashyap, police arrested two other suspects: Gurmail Baljit Singh, 23, from Haryana, and a co-conspirator whose identity is still under investigation.
A third accomplice fled the scene during the incident. Reports indicate that the suspects had been surveilling Siddique for months, meticulously planning the attack.
The police disclosed that each suspect was paid Rs.50,000 in advance for the hit, and firearms were delivered just days prior to the assassination. In a late development, the crime branch apprehended 28-year-old Pravin Lonkar from Pune, identified as the brother of Shubham Lonkar, who is believed to have orchestrated the assassination plot.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the conspiracy, with additional arrests possible as the case unfolds.
Baba Siddique was cremated with full state honors on Sunday evening, marking a somber moment for the political community in Maharashtra.
