Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra can’t travel abroad, High Court denies permission
The Bombay High Court has rejected a plea by Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty and her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, seeking permission to travel to Phuket, Thailand, for a three-day family vacation. The court cited ongoing serious legal proceedings against the couple as the reason for denying the request.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Shree Chandrashekhar and Justice Gautam Ankhad also declined to stay the lookout circular issued against Kundra by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police. The circular restricts his travel outside the country due to ongoing investigations.
During the hearing, the couple’s legal counsel argued that Kundra has fully cooperated with investigative agencies and requested the court to allow a temporary relaxation of travel restrictions. However, the government‘s representative opposed the request, asserting that no relief should be granted at this stage.
The matter has been adjourned, with the next hearing scheduled in two weeks.
