TMC youth leader Ashish Pandey under CBI scanner in RG Kar rape and murder case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted an extensive interrogation of Ashish Pandey, a youth leader from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and a house staff member at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, on Thursday. This inquiry is part of the ongoing investigation into the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at the facility.
According to agency officials, Pandey was questioned for several hours at the CBI’s CGO Complex office, leaving late at night. The investigation has gained urgency following the shocking discovery of the doctor’s body on August 9, which has sparked widespread outrage across the nation.
A CBI officer revealed that Pandey’s phone number appeared in the call logs of multiple individuals linked to the case. Notably, he had checked into a hotel in Salt Lake with a female companion on the day the doctor’s body was found. “We are trying to ascertain his activities on that day,” the officer stated.
In conjunction with the interrogation, the CBI summoned hotel authorities to gather information regarding Pandey’s booking details.
“The hotel room was booked via an app. He checked in on the afternoon of August 9 and left the following morning. We are investigating the purpose of his stay,” the officer added.
The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident, which has deeply affected the medical community and the public at large.
