Communist opposition to PM-SHRI and NEP 2020 exposed
Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI), launched by the Narendra Modi government in 2022, had remained an unknown and unpublicized entity had it not been for the Communist Party of India (CPI), the global hub of all communist parties spread across the five continents. D Raja, the national secretary, Binoy Viswam, the Kerala State Secretary of the party, and Annie Raja, the spouse of Raja, are the faces of the Communist parties across the world, and they are universal gurus who guide the comrades worldwide.
The PM-SHRI envisages the elevation of 14,500 schools across India to an international level where the students are taught as per the curriculum drawn out as part of the National Education Policy 2020. The main intention of the PM-SHRI, to be set up in all states, will have state-of-the-art smart classrooms, laboratories, and physical infrastructure to be funded by the Central government for the first three years. All these schools will have playgrounds, libraries, and welfare schemes that match the standard of any public school that one comes across in developed countries.
The focus would be to impart education incorporating the Indian system of knowledge and tradition. While the Congress and CPI(M) run states eulogize Babur and Aurangzeb, despite the crimes perpetrated by them on the Hindus in Bharat Varsha, the NEP-2020 and PM-SHRI schools hoped to remove such anomalies in the syllabus and teach history in the right perspective. Similarly, the NEP also gave importance to basic sciences and technology hitherto left untouched by the Nehru-Indira Gandhi era curriculum. All Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas follow the NEP 2020 scheme enacted by the Union Government. But the CPI is frightened of the PM-SHRI and the NEP, which they claim are attempts by the Sangh Parivar to saffronize the education sector.
For the CPI and CPI(M), anything of Indian origin is worthless. These two outfits claim Lord Rama is a mythological character and Ramayana is a work of fiction. The same is the case with Lord Krishna, they say. For them, the Mahabharat too is a work of fiction. The names like Kurukshetra, Gandhara (the modern-day Kandahar), Ayodhya, Hastinapur, Mathura, are all bunkum for them. The characters like Dasarath, Maa Sita are all created by some writers, according to our comrades. They hate Ayurveda and consider Astrology as obscurantism. But the hardcore Communist leaders consult astrologers frequently to know what is in store for them. Recently, M V Govindan, the Kerala CPI(M) secretary, called on Madhava Pothuval, an astrologer at Payyanur in Kannur district, to find out what the stars foretell. When media persons countered him, asking him what made him consult the astrologer, Govindan said it was a courtesy call as Pothuval was a long-time friend!
Sanskrit universities have postgraduate courses and research programs in astrology, and there is strong demand for these branches of study. Some scholars have been awarded PhDs for the research work done by them in astrology. Universities in the US and Europe have major research programs in astrology, and there are peer-reviewed research papers on this topic. Coming back to the PM-SHRI scheme, the schools offer quality education in select schools across the nation, equipped with smart classrooms. The uniqueness is that these schools offer public school education to the economically and socially backward sections, for whom quality education remains elusive. The Centre hopes to increase the number of PM-SHRI schools in stages to include all schools in its ambit. But the Communist parties do not want the poor and downtrodden sections to get educated in such institutions, even as the leaders send their children abroad for higher education. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s son Vivek Karun completed his management degree from a British University and is employed as a manager in a multinational bank based in the UAE. This is the case with other Communist party leaders too, even as they forcefully make the young party recruits stage demonstrations and agitate against the move to upgrade the Desi schools. The leaders fear that if the children of ordinary party workers and common men are given the same education that is offered in public schools, chances are that they may excel in their studies and eclipse the wards of party commissars. Hence, they want to keep the less privileged in eternal ignorance. The motto of the Communist parties is “all are equal but some are more equal”. The children of leaders are born to lead… Ordinary mortals have to remain as their slaves forever.
The CPI(M) and CPI have found a way to keep the young cadre in good humor. Those who want to excel in the academic field are honored with PhD degrees so that they can prefix the title Doctor to their names. The Ph Ds are awarded in English, Hindi, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Economics, and Sociology. A PhD would help them to get a job as a lecturer/ associate professor in any university in the State. But one should not ask them about the topic of their research. They are incapable of explaining the kind of research they did to get the Ph Ds. Recently, a student by the name Vijith Vijayan was recommended for awarding PhD in Sanskrit by the Kerala University. The student does not know how to read, write, or speak Sanskrit! One can assume the kind of research he did for the Ph D.[1]
A Rajya Sabha member by the name A A Rahim is also a PhD holder from Kerala University. But it is better not to ask him anything about his research thesis. Rahim is accused of molesting an assistant professor at the University, and based on her complaint, the police had issued a lookout notice against him. But the MP remains elusive, though he travels frequently and appears on TV screens during the Rajya Sabha sessions.[2]
Since the Marxist historians like Irfan Habib lost their market share, the Leftist intelligentsia has started commissioning “scholars” from the US to write India’s 5,000 years of history. Audrey Truschke and Wendy Doniger were imported from the US to write India’s history, and the works of both the “scholars” bombed at the box office. Truschke produced the history about the Moghul emperor Aurangzeb (Aurangzeb: The Man and the Myth) in which she presented the Islamic zealot as the virtue of all that is good. Despite eye witness accounts of how Aurangzeb destroyed and demolished Hindu temples like Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Mathura Krishna Temple, and how he forcefully converted Hindus to Islam.
Not satisfied with the encomiums she showered on Aurangzeb in her magnum opus, the lady has come out again with another book, India’s 5,000 years of history on the subcontinent, in which she has elevated the Mughal emperor to the position of Almighty. She has tried to indoctrinate the Hindus with the mantra that Aurangzeb was the embodiment of all that is good. This is the kind of history that is taught to our children in schools and universities.
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan had published an eleven-volume series, The History and Culture of the Indian People, which was edited by eminent historian Prof R C Majumdar. The series saw the light of the day because of the perseverance of K M Munshi, the then president of the Bhavan, who was helped by none other than G D Birla, ace industrialist who was also the chairman of Shri Krishnarpan Charity Trust. The duo formed the Academy of Indian History (Bharatiya Ithihasa Samiti) to publish the unadulterated and comprehensive history of the sub-continent, and thus was born the series. The story of the “Culture and History of Indian People” should be told to the present generation, and it could be done on another occasion. Suffice to say that the series edited by Prof Majumdar turned out to be a classical work of Indian history, as neither the editor nor the other contributors had any vested interests. Most of the present-day historians are political bhikshamdehis who know which side of the bread is buttered. Prof Majumdar, in the volume on the Mughal era, has explained how Aurangzeb launched a pogrom to get rid of Hindus from their own country. But our comrades in their bid to appease the minority community have got their in-house historians and academicians to whitewash the genocide committed by Aurangzeb and other Islamic invaders.
Opponents and critics of the National Education Policy 2020 and PM-SHRI should remember what Karl Popper, the Austrian-British philosopher, said. “Knowledge advances not by repeating known facts, but by refuting false dogmas”. Those who allege that NEP-2020 is reactionary and the PM-SHRI scheme is obscurantist want to keep the Gen-C in perpetual ignorance. Science is not static, and it keeps on changing. History written by people without any ideological leanings and who are well-versed in the culture and tradition of India is the real chronicle of the subcontinent.
B L Bhyrappa, who passed away recently, has recounted his experience in National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) when he was asked by G Parthasarathy, the family retainer of Indira Gandhi, to write history without mentioning that Kashi Viswanath Temple was demolished by Aurangzeb who also made an elephant to pull down the presiding deity and dumped the same to a well in the temple premises. Since Bhyrappa opposed the diktat of GP, the former was shown the door and a Marxist servile was brought in to write history!
Prof A. Sreedhara Menon, who authored many books on Kerala’s history, was asked by the CPI(M) comrades to get the approval of EMS Namboodirippadu before publishing the same, to which the respected historian said Get lost. EMS, who has studied up to the 12th standard, assessing the quality of history authored by Prof Menon, who bagged the gold medal and first rank in M A (History) from Madras University and M A in international relations from Harvard University, could have made a big joke.
The comrades who see red in anything associated with Sanatan Dharma go silent when the issue is connected with Christianity and Islam. There was an incident that took place during the Jaipur Dialogues when the present CPI(M) general secretary cried off from a debate with RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale. The comrade was afraid that he would be exposed in the debate, and that is why he left the venue in a hurry. An ideal proof of what would happen to a person if he bunks education well thought out and developed by sages and gurus. The Indian system of knowledge is eternal and blessed by Goddess Saraswathi. Those who question its validity and insult the same are sure to be cursed by the Goddess of Education.
