A Congress MLA in Kerala is the kingpin of a sex racket

The Thiruvananthapuram Principal Sessions Court dismissed on Thursday the anticipatory bail application filed by Congress leader and MLA Rahul Mamkootathil, a close aide of party scion Rahul Gandhi, in a case of rape, sexual assault, and forced abortion of a victim. Immediately after the Court order, the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee declared the ouster of Rahul Mamkootathil from the primary membership of the party.

The Court declared that all evidences furnished by the prosecution against the accused Mamkootathil stand corroborated, and the role of the accused in the rape and forcing the victim to undergo abortion has been proved. The judge asked the accused to surrender to the police and cooperate with them in the investigation of the case.

Rahul Mamkootathil, who has been absconding since the case was filed against him, played all the tricks in his armor to prevent the arrest. In addition to the anticipatory bail plea, Mamkoottathil had filed a plea asking the Court to issue a directive to the cops not to arrest him. His lawyers argued that the rape and illegal abortion charges against him filed by another lady were with an eye on subverting the bail plea.

What is hotly being debated in the state is why Mamkoottathil remains elusive even as he claims that the rape and assault cases against him are a conspiracy hatched by the Congress and BJP to tarnish his political career. Even as the Congress leader is engaged in a legal battle against the prosecution, a senior woman leader of the Congress came out on Thursday against him, accusing him of sending sleazy messages soliciting sexual favors from her via WhatsApp.

M A Shahanaz, general secretary of the Samskara Sahiti, the frontal organization of the Congress party, told media persons on Thursday that she had alerted Shafi Parambil, MP, against the move to appoint Rahul Mamkootathil as the president of the Youth Congress. “But this request was not taken into account by Shafi Parambil, who was the outgoing chief of the Youth Congress,” said Shahanaz.

Meanwhile, a serious controversy has erupted among civil society and Congress leaders about the leaking of information from the police team, which is out to nab Rahul Mamkootathil. “Rahul’s close association with leaders like Shafi Parambil and other AICC leaders, which he cultivated through immoral activities, has come in handy for him to escape the police net,” said a senior KPCC functionary.

Since the election to the local self-government institutions scheduled for 9th and 11th December, Rahul Mamkoottathil has become a thorn in the flesh for the Congress. But the CPI(M) is equally handicapped by charges of rape and sexual assault cases. Mukesh, party MLA. P K Sasi, a former party MLA, is involved in sexual molestation cases.

If the Congress MLA is innocent, why has he gone underground and escaped from the arms of the law? This is what the people ask. It is widely reported that Rahul Mamkootathil and a parliament member from Malabar are past masters in trapping innocent ladies and girls and using them for their physical needs. This MP, who belongs to a minority community, is in the habit of inviting the prospective victims for a fully paid trip to Bangalore, where he and Mamkoottathil have guest houses.

The Palakkad district secretary of the CPI(M) told reporters on Thursday that Rahul Mamkootathil and the controversial MP were the tip of the iceberg, and a deep probe would throw out the details of a sex racket in which many Congress, CPI(M), and Muslim League leaders figure.
