Why was an FIR filed against Delhi CM Atishi?
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi is facing allegations of violating the model code of conduct ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. An FIR has been filed against her, accusing her of misusing a government vehicle for personal and election-related activities.
Alleged misuse of government resources
The controversy emerged after a Public Works Department (PWD) vehicle was reportedly seen delivering election campaign materials to an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) office following the election announcement on January 7. This action has been criticized as an alleged misuse of government resources for political purposes.
Complaints filed and police action
K S Duggal, a resident of Kalkaji, filed a separate complaint with the Govindpuri police station, further intensifying scrutiny. Acting on these allegations, the returning officer instructed the police to take swift action against South-East Divisional Executive Engineer Sanjay Kumar, who is reportedly linked to the incident.
High-profile contest in Kalkaji
Atishi, who represents the Kalkaji constituency and has been renominated by the AAP, is gearing up for a high-stakes battle in the elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded veteran leader and former Member of Parliament Ramesh Bidhuri, making Kalkaji one of the most watched constituencies this election season.
This development has added a new dimension to the heated political contest, with both parties vying for a strong foothold in the region.
