PM Modi shares video praising native dog demonstrations
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded the performances by indigenous dog breeds during the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) celebrations at the Statue of Unity in Gujarat.
Sharing a video of the parade on X, PM Modi wrote, “Among the most admired parts of the Ekta Parade were the demonstrations by indigenous dog breeds.” The video showed native dogs completing agility tasks such as jumping over walls and walking across rope ladders with precision.

PM Modi commended the Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) for their efforts to integrate more indigenous breeds into their ranks. Referring to his earlier ‘Mann ki Baat’ address, he said, “I had requested the forces to embrace indigenous breeds as they are better adapted to Indian conditions. I am happy to share that our security agencies have made commendable efforts in this direction.”
According to ANI, around 150 indigenous dogs have been deployed across operational areas on India’s eastern and western borders. These include breeds like the Rampur Hound from Uttar Pradesh and the Mudhol Hound from Karnataka and Maharashtra, both of which are now being trained for security and patrol duties.
PM Modi also paid floral tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity on the 150th birth anniversary of India’s first home minister. Since 2014, October 31 has been observed as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to commemorate Patel’s contribution to national unity.
